I pre-ordered Stellaris last night, and was thinking that it and EU4 are the only games I've ever pre-ordered (out of the 200 games I own) and therefore paid full price for.

I guess Paradox are the only studio I trust to release games I know pre-review will be amazing, and I'm sure I won't be disappointed by Stellaris.
So I guess congrats for making excellent games that work straight out the box, have my £35 as a prize.

I'd say the only failure to have the Paradox name (as publisher, not dev) on was Sword of the Stars 2, which remains one of my biggest disappointments after the incredibleness that was the first.
(Yes I tried it after the last patches and it took me 60 turns to realize the AI was doing nothing from the start of the game).

Does Stellaris mean no to other 4x games like SOTS? Even though I think theres space for both.
Is there every any plans to continue the SOTS universe?

Your fan,

I was a big fan of the first one but second one was complete balls. I think elements are being taken from it though for Stellaris.
Different types of space travel
Random technology "tree"
AI rebellions and galactic threats

I don't see a need for another Sots game with Stellaris. I would welcome more things from Sots being brought into Stellaris like
Space dolphin race
More unique ways of travel (although they are less realistic) eg Morragi Void Cutter, Liir stutter drive and Zuul Bore drive (that could even be a dangerous rare tech option)
Zuul Harpoon weaponry

I suspect the IP is with Kerebos rather than Paradox, and apart from the legalities it just plain wouldn't be nice to steal their space dolphins. Better to have some space platypi, if they're not already announced.

It is a shame that SotS2 didn't work out, the first was straight forward fun with depth in player decisions.

I might try SOTS2 again
In my head I know it'll be crap, but my heart wishes it to be good

And yes I did notice a lot of ideas from SOTS in Stellaris which is what made me think of it
