I remember seeing somewhere that each religion has a set of weights placed on kingdoms to decide the target of crusades. The issue with West African is that there are only a handful of nearby kingdoms with a weighting. Once you have conquered all the kingdoms with Crusade weights the game just goes for the biggest Kingdom, which happens to be in India. I had this exact problem with reformed Romuva.

It's actually supposed to only target kingdoms that have a border with someone of your religion. It's a change we made for RIP.

Yeah, if you look in the event files, all the Reaper's Due events start with the prefix "rip" in the same way that e.g. Way of Life event files all have the prefix "wol"
