The official pre-order DLC thread

Hi all,

We’ve been asked to clarify the pre-order bonuses/DLCs for Europa Universalis IV so here goes:

1. As you have noticed there are two different versions. The Standard Edition and the Deluxe Edition. The difference between these two versions is shown here http://www.europauniversalis4.com/buy as well as on the product pages of our various sales partners.
2. We will reveal the DLCs that are included in the period leading up to the release slowly but surely. Anybody who pre-orders, regardless of when you pre-order, will receive ALL DLCs included in this pre-order campaign. I.e June, July & August.

Yes, that’s right. That is a ton of extra content that PDS has commissioned and created for the pre-order campaign and the reasoning behind it was both to encourage people to pre-order the game of course but also because we know so many of you already do. And not just this game but but most of our games. So in addition to this making the offer of pre-ordering the game more enticing, it’s also a small way to say thank you for your support and for being the early adopters you are.

Reading the development diaries and watching the live stream already encouraged me to pre-order . I'm excited for the game!

Day 1 DLC = content cut from the game, no matter how you dress it up.

And I also think pre-ordering digital copies is a sham. The only thing you guys have got going for you now is fair prices compared to many titles released these days. Even with the DLC.

You get a golden forum icon for doing the call to arms campaign that paradox is doing. I believe you only need three people for that particular reward so it really isnt that hard to get.

Do DLCs make a big difference o the game mechanics?

No they dont. THey just add some flavour events, pictures and images.

I think it is not logical think to criticise too much since this decision.

It is not a huge difference at all, for $5.

I don't know, for me it kinda had opposite effect, sad really, coz I was ready to give my kidney for this and now I'll just wait for the sale or something. I hope next time you will apeal to the mutual respect and honor instead of greed and self-interest.
