Impressed so far, I only played the tutorial because I want to wait for the game to come out before I play a real game. The presentation is quite stunning indeed, can't wait for all the mods too. Only complaint I have really is the bumpiness of the maps but other that that it looks amazing! Really pumped for release now.

Gotta say it - this demo sucked me in very easily. Obviously it is early to judge, but it'd appear that EU 4 will probably be the most playable PDS game, and at the same time the finest balanced in terms of historical plausibility. I really am happy about being EUR 40 lighter in the pocket ;)

I love everything except this inflation mechanic. I just got 2 events and my inflation is like 5 or 6, my income is like 0.7 and the only way I can reduce inflation is by having fully researched Economic Idea or by having a mint adviser, who you can get only by random.

Too short :O!. I wanted to try the colonization game as Portugal and only managed 3 colonies before the game ended (Horn of Africa + 2 Holdings in Brazil), I had to take out at least 10-20 loans. Seriously PI next demo make it a bit longer please :(. I finished the demo in an hour(ish) from 1492 to 1520(?) and didn't get involved in any wars just wanted cash money.

I honestly don't think this will last me till release day :'(

My one major thought from playing was that an alliance didn't really mean much. Countries were often very willing to enter into an alliance, but usually quite picky about actually going through with war. Coalition mechanic was fun though.

Really enjoying the demo so far, although having trouble finding time to play it between getting my CK2 conversion game ready and life! I quite like the map/colours, but I guess that's all down to personal preference. I found the tutorial to be quite good and I really appreciate the 'hints' mode. Can't comment on much until I get more time with it, at which point the game will probably be released. Also, excellent music!
That about sums it up for me too.

Very impressed. The game looks and feels nice and polished, like with the CK2 release and thank heaven not like the EU3 release.

I like the centralised build mechanism, great interface improvement!

I'm quite surprised with seeing unforeseen mechanics: f.e. the Idea track was something I apparantly missed in the DDs.

I was hesitant to buy the game outright but this demo convinces me that EU4 will be good even without expansions or DLCs.

I got stomped by the Ottomans, and then the Austrians. How did you prevent that?

Maybe I wasn't the weakest target in their list. By the time they finished eating up those minors, I already had a decent army of 2x regiments. I did send a diplomat to Austria to improve the relationship, although I don't think that helps much

Hmm, minor request thing. In the trailers and video diaries for the game, I noticed that the camera could rotate and zoom in on angles that allow you to see at "ship level". I expected that you would be able to turn the camera and stuff by either pressing Ctrl/MMB and moving the mouse, but no :( Just a nit pick but it's a shame you make all these great textures and terrain that we can't see close up. Unless I'm missing something :s

Finished a Venice game, and loving the demo. I didn't have any problems with Austria or the Ottomans attacking me. They did defend Siena when I was thinking about building up Italy, but I was able to beat their fleet and hold my own against one of their armies (the other one was away fighting some other war).

Dealing with the HRE in Italy is going to be really awful though. Grrr.... Need to find a way to make it collapse.

Does the HRE always come in to defend their member states against outside forces? Or is it just a chance they will? And how can I undermine Austria enough to get someone like the Palantine elected? I'd be extremely happy if they were Emperor.

Inflation isn't really a problem.
You will eventually get hold of a master of mint. Even if not, paying 5% extra is rarely an issue considering the vast increase of income over the course of the game.

They will always defend the members against external attacks, if they aren't involved in too many wars for example. You must kick those austrians asses so bad that they will be a former glory of themselves and they won't be elected anymore. But Burgundy or Boehmia will be, so is like jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

To begin with, the paintings used in the startup screens were beautiful - better than the EU3 ones (sorry!). The speed at which it loaded was also nice - faster than EU3 on the same computer, although that could just be the demo.

Well, that's my impression too. It actually loads so fast the only paintings I manage to see are the Swede and then Elizabeth@Dover. It zooms by so fast I'll never even see the wrong Isabella!
I hope it's not a feature exclusive to the demo.
