I had this event last night. If you upgrade it it gets loaded out with all your normal advancements (including engines) but keeps its unique look.

Oh, so it's solely because of that modifier and nothing else?
To be honest: I HATE that modifier. Okay, not exactly the modifier itself. But the fact that it appears when you covert-annex pre-FTLs or vassalise people as well, even though those are peaceful acts of taking over a planet, and NOT conquests.
There is currently no real difference between covert-annexation and outright conquest of pre-FTL civilisations except for the Stellar Culture Shock modifier, which isn't actually that important. And that's the thing that annoys me.
There is actually no way at all to get a primitive world without having people hate you for doing it: (1) conquering them and introducing them to galactic civilisation without preparation, (2) making it so the people actually WANT to be part of your empire and are prepared for this for some years or (3) enlightening them with all kinds of highly advanced technology, granting them some time as a protectorate to get to your tech level on their own and let them develop culturally, and then making them an official part of your empire in a gigantic ceremony of peace and friendship between your two peoples, or even (4) letting them develop completely on their own and then either (4.1) conquer or (4.2) vassalise and annex them.
Every single of these ways will result in the people having a modifier that's basically saying "we consider the things you did to us to be outright conquest, therefore we hate you and your government and everything you stand for!"

Hopefully yours is more successful than mine.. I annexed a planet that way in my current game.. and those people hated my guts although I infiltrated them and they gave me there planet in the same event.. But then they hated me so I released them as a loyal Vassal... Why did i bother with them I have no idea.. In fact I am not even sure why they hate me since they should be my own people..
Hm... three tundra planets in one system, and one of them is in Tomb stage. Something went down here.
Also, I seem to have found Space Japan Seaturtles. They are like Japan, but in SPACE! I wonder how many will get the reference.
