You don't fall under PU through succession if you already have a junior PU under you. It needs to be enforced through war or event.

AI rarely converts anything anyway. Maybe some religious zealots were responsible for this. I have no idea because I didn't pay attention to the region at all.

Ethiopia (or Semien) might have gotten overrun by Jewish rebels who converted the provinces for them. They're the same culture, so it's not completely out of the question.
What happened here ? I jusr attacked Denmark, took Island and Gotland, and saw this mess.
Lately I've seen it happen regularly that Lithuania allies Novgorod after some time and helps them beating Moscow back into irrelevance, saving / liberating other minors in that area in the process.
My guess here would be that just that happened here as well, then Poland got the personal union over Novgorod, nullifying their alliance, which gave Denmark the chance to gobble up suddenly-all-alone Novgorod.
Everything about that is downright crazy. Transoxiana surviving is unusual, I've never seen Tabriz exist and didn't even know it could, Shirvan is big, and apparently Crimea chose to not seek Ottoman protection and somehow thrived.
