This actually happened quite a lot until a few patches ago. They added a specific modifier to try to prevent this IIRC.

Yes, Portugal vassalized Galicia and it is Aragon.

Unfortunately it was a while ago and I didn't take any screenshot of the situation in Iberia. I think it was a bug. Because Spain was OPM and didn't have any cores or claims on Iberia.

Here is an another screenshot from the same run, though not helpful. There is a glimpse of Iberia. I took that screenshot because I haven't seen an AI passing 5 Imperial Reforms (someone showed AI HRE, so not that interesting anymore)

edit: Welp, the real explaination is boring. GB doesn't get an event "Our colony has declared independence!", they just got randomly chosen to either acknowledge the US (and piss off Spain) or not (and piss off the US). ( https://eu4.paradoxwikis.com/American_Dream_events#American_Independence)

Winning and losing is all about retreating first in game. That's generally optimal to retreat if your frontline melts, even if you can win the battle.

I do not know if thats strange or not, but I just conquered a few of Novgorods provinces (this is my first time as Muscovy). In one descisive battle I devasted their entire army, and demanded all their ducats in the peace deal. So Tvers AI sees an opportunity and gets overconfident, attacks Novgorod without even calling its only ally, Odoyev. So Novgorod takes up more loans and gets a bunch of mercs. It was at this moment, Tver knew - he fucked up.

Why didn't you take Novgorod land? Or even Muscovy culture ones? You eventually can accept Novgorod culture as well by forming Russia. Culture group and all that.

If you didn't take land now then you have to dismantle them in 3 separate war before they took Tver. With Tver and developing provinces? It will take longer.

i said i took land. Now its 1480ish and im in a war against Kazan, Nogai, Crimea and some OPM (that wasnt an opm before with a relatively strong but loyal vassal. Novgorod has like 4 provinces left.
#edit: the opm is chagatai and their vassal is yarkand, but since i wiped chagatais army they have become disloyal now (54%)

Apparently, Münster conquered Ostfriesland, then Cologne conquered Münsters capital, and it moved to Ostfriesland, so Münster isn't part of the HRE anymore.
