It's not that rare; it just has a rather large MTTH. It'll usually happen at some point in the late~mid game; but not always.

Go Scotland! Go! Also Spanish Inheritance; and East Frisia is doing well and joined the HRE. Also Estonia exists.

I'd point out the Greece as weird; but that one's just me.

I mean, you can discount it because it's a player doing it, but I can regularly spawn Colonialism as Holland without holding any province further west in Europe than Vlaanderen. I've even spawned it in Norway. Portugal is generally very behind in diplo tech early on and usually concentrates on Africa first. If you're the only nation with colonial holdings in America in 1500, you're almost guaranteed to spawn it.

That isn't much of an acheivement at all. The only reason AI Norway isn't spawning it constantly is the combination of AI getting a massive malus to taking Colonial Ideas without Renaissance; and Subject nations literally being incapable of taking it [x0 multiplier]. Norway has just as easy; if not an easier time spawning it than the Iberians [Who often focus on Africa which can delay the institution even spawning a good 15 years sometimes]

This is also why you don't see things like Korea or Ming rushing Alaska and sniping Colonialism; not having Renaissance is a x0.1 multiplier. Then Korea has to roll Colonial Ideas above every other applicable group.

Portugal became a republic, apparently. I saw Revolutionary rebels in their country before this, I guess they did it.

And this isn't a tag I think I've ever seen colonizing... granted I do have a lot to do with them surviving this long (I was allied to them for a long while until they tried to call me into a war against my other ally Austria).

They now have a BBF in AI Ireland! Which isn't a tag you see the AI actually form often either [Given Pale is owned by England].

Apparently the Scottish decided the answer to the Irish Question was to be friends. Also; Ireland has just started to colonize Canada [While Scotland has only just taken Exploration as their 4th group]

And yeah, I always saw the region of Ireland be annexed by Britain or vassalized by France for the most part, except once when I played as France and me and Scotland partitioned england, Scotland rivaled me, so I partitioned Scotland with Leinster which then also rivaled me. And even then it did not form Ireland

I have not helped the PLC in any way; shape or form. I haven't even fought a war against the Ottomans.This is a natural PLC. I'm allied with them to stop the Turks DoW'ing me.

Hungary just failed. Bohemia kept dragging Ottos to war with Hungary for nothing. PLC ate most of it. Ottomans attacked Russia; and I think the PLC jumped on.

I think he's referring to the fact you own provinces that the Ottomen start the game with. Clearly, you've warred them at one point or another.

Punched out by an early Albania war [Hungary+Aragon+Venice]; into Byzantium; and then annexed by me.

Yeah. Even if they've not been taken directly by you, the loss of those provinces weakened the ottomans who are one of the polish biggest rivals for expansion

AI will happily join the HRE if it's strong enough to be worth the effort. The one HRE run I did, I had Ragusa, a blobbed Livonian Order holding around 15 provinces, Flanders, and several French duchies I released all join up.
