Forming Spain diplomatically 'only' asks you not to have any Muslim nation controlling anything in the Iberian region. Portugal eating them, or cheesing your way into forcing Catholic revolters in Granada to win is both equally valid options if you don't want to eat them yourself

That's exactly the points. But tbh Hungary got PUed by Austria few years later, so everything went back to normal. Nevertheless, some historical rivalry could come in handy.

But that is only an enemy, not a rival. IIRC that gives not positive modifiers whatsoever. I mean it would make Hungary more likely to agree assuming that they rivaled Poland if Hungary assumed that the Ottomans where threatened by Poland, but I do not think that's the issue here
