I think they're hardcoded to stay Catholic.

They are, and somehow northern Italy in most of my games flip oddly.

But if Spain does flip, then it will have the Church of Spain, which will give a new meaning to the Inquisition

Castille was also cast out of the New World by Chile and Colombia. Now Castille exists solely in South Africa, with its new capital at Cape Town. It has made slight inroads into Indonesia.

Probably got conquered and released in peace by a theocracy, then conquered and released as a vassal by a sunni player.

Ottomans blobbed waayyyyy above their historical borders. (Hungary, Austria, Bohemia). Then, they started going into the HRE. The Ottos got just enough time to convert Saxony, or at least the capital and then they lost a major war and were forced to release Saxony. Spectator games are definitely fun.

And about my previous pic where Wales formed GB, I actually think it would be the most practical solution, since Welsh culture isn't even in the British group, so they get more accepted cultures than if anyone else formed it. Usually, GB does not accept Welsh. Btw, I don't have a picture, but GB-Wales converted all of Scotland to Welsh for some reason.
