attack a small nation, and "lose" by offering to them to end the vassalization (even protectorate of your colonial nation) of whichever north American tribe you wish to attack. It will show up in the "cancel vassalization" menu.
This should go in the empire posting thread. How on earth did you manage to stop Castile from colonising while playing as a landlocked HRE three-provincer?

I did that to Poland. They were getting too big for my liking (they used to own all of their current lands + Ukraine + Lithuania's lands)
So I punched a bunch of provinces out of them and made Ukraine/Lithuania my vassals/buffer states against Russia over there.
My first time playing 1.5 (I stopped updating at 1.1) so I thought the vassal (colony) having a protectorate was strange. Apparently not. So I put it here. I didn't stop Castille from colonizing, you can't see it but they own 4/5ths of South America. Castille has been UNDER a PU with Aragon for the entire game (I'm allied with Aragon, used them to win early coalition wars, the coalitions in 1.5 are WAY worse than 1.1, hence the ugly borders in Central Europe)
I dont know what the chances are but its the first time seeing them for me - and they are quite scary
