Proof that AE is crazy this patch:
http://imgur.com/ncHRK5q

P.S. This was in the Veritas et Fortitudo mod, but I don't think that made much of a difference when it comes to the amount of AE I got from taking like 8 provinces.

It makes perfect sense lol.

You TOOK 8 BLOODY provinces XD XD XD

What do you expect? Everyone to be cool with it?

Also by the way the fact that youre playing a mod does matter, the version of VeF i have changes the AE calculations compared to vanilla:

VeF:
Code:
	AE_OTHER_CONTINENT = 10,
	AE_SAME_CULTURE = 0.25,
	AE_SAME_CULTURE_GROUP = 0.1,
	AE_SAME_RELIGION = 1.0,
	AE_SAME_RELIGION_GROUP = 0.5,
	AE_DIFFERENT_RELIGION = 0,
	AE_HRE_INTERNAL = 0.50,
	AE_ATTACKER_PROVINCE = 0.1,
	AE_DISTANCE_BASE = 1.75, -- Was 0.5 - make AE fall off significantly
	AE_SAME_OVERLORD = 1.0,

	AE_FABRICATE_CLAIM = 10,

Vanilla:
Code:
	AE_OTHER_CONTINENT = 10,
	AE_SAME_CULTURE = 0.5,
	AE_SAME_CULTURE_GROUP = 0.25,
	AE_SAME_RELIGION = 1.0,
	AE_SAME_RELIGION_GROUP = 0.5,
	AE_DIFFERENT_RELIGION = 0,
	AE_HRE_INTERNAL = 0.5,
	AE_ATTACKER_PROVINCE = 0.0,
	AE_DISTANCE_BASE = 0.5,
	AE_SAME_OVERLORD = 1.0,

	AE_FABRICATE_CLAIM = 10,

Seriously, why does everybody think "unjustified demand" means "stuff I can take with no consequences"? If only we could get virtual Napoleon posting on here... "I grabbed a few provinces to extend my holdings out to the Rhine and took some vassals from the HRE, and now England is locked into a permanent coalition against me! This AE is out of control! And don't get me started about the BS attrition in Russia..."

hrhr.
700+ does seem a bit excessive, but those provinces probably belonged to Rum.. The remnant of France in a coalition looks overdone, though (especially, if the AE is supposed to be more distance-dependent than vanilla).
In my first game as the Ottos I managed 800+ versus Oman (v.1.0), so such amounts are not restricted to this patch.

I'm not angry at all. The Byzantines have some crazy bonuses in the mod so I am able to beat any coalition that comes at me. It just annoys me that taking some land in Anatolia makes countries west of the Balkans want to be in a coalition against you. Also, I personally find it weird that one gets AE from taking land when you are defending yourself. You either have to sit and wait for your current coalition to slowly dwindle down or you take land from some of your current coalition to make them weaker only to have a lot more countries join.

People are kinda misinterpreting your meaning, and I think you explain it here. The way AE spreads, and causes coalition formation, is dumb. Byzantium is expanding into heathen nations, in the opposite direction to your nation - they shouldn't care. They certainly shouldn't join a coalition based on any previous negative opinion of Byzantium, just because they have AE now.

Also, you show a -733 AE opinion modifier with Rum, decaying at 2.3 a year. That's gonna take you over 300 years to get rid of, with absolutely no more actions against them. That's so, so stupid. According to this, the great-great-great-grandchildren of anybody living at the time when the AE is accrued will still absolutely hate you, based on events that have long passed from living memory. So that's the second thing. AE decay should be exponential, and work out at getting rid of any and all AE within 60 years.

Most people on the balkans have some pretty bad opinion about anything turk/arab related and I can assure you they haven't done anything particulary nasty to us for the last 100-150 years or so.

Yes, like Catalunya. But I agree with Tub. AE should be remodelled.
Countries back than were not so touchy. France expanded in central Europe? Yes, I'm scared to death for the next ten years, but after than we're best friends again and fighting together somewhere else.
