@pdx you really need to work on proper priesthood representation. I know I know - such thing can happen from time to time, but I just broke with Rome to get EVIL FREAKING ATHEIST as a head of faith.
Oh, my sweet summer child, so many shenanigans around the Papacy existed in the Middle Ages. So many. Allow me to introduce you to the saeculum obscurum, more enjoyably referred to as the Pornocracy.

For starters.

So for context:

I'm playing a Greek Orthodox emperor who is trying to end the great schism, so I spent my ruler's lifetime going after the pope. I took Rome/Latium from him, and then I took his backup capital in Ravenna; and then I captured him and castrated him; and then I took his last counties, forcibly vassalized him and finally blinded him. So imagine my surprise when a few years later I get this minor event:

What on _earth_ could my patriarch have POSSIBLY said to him to gain 30 opinion?

"Oh, no matter how much penance I give him, he'll still burn in hell for what he did to you. But we don't need to tell him that, right? So today he'll flog himself in St. Peter's Square...."

I was playing in Africa (for Noboby Comes to Fika) and out of nowhere I scrolled up to Europe to see if anything weird had happened.
You can say that again, Bogomilist England and Germany, spreading into Denmark, and an Apostolic Byzantium (though I've seen the latter happening before, but I think never this successfully).

Weird religion shifts are pretty common actually, but what make your post it the ruler in lower left giving this map pure look of "wtf am i seeing here"

Multiple vassals are trying to claim my kingdom title. Of course, they're all fabricating claims.

Except this count's mother is an Umayyad, so he's got a point.

But only a couple months later the next one claims descendant from the Visigoths, but is an actual Umayyad. As far as I see it, he hadn't needed to fabricate anything.

Zounds! I'm beside myself in shock! Or actually my brother is beside himself!

And to think, I'd never have guessed that he had tried to kill me, except for that time on a hunt two years back when he tried to kill me.

The ivarings get around lol.

This guy is the grandson of ivar the boneless haha.

This playthrough have been quite entertaining so far. Hæsteinn took mercia, his son Ragnarr became king of the danelaw, vassalized hvitserk's grandson and created the danelanders.

So this one needs a bit of backstory. This is Banna Ambonus, wife of the heir to the Roman Empire, my lover and mother to my son and heir. I am not the heir to the Roman Empire, but the Armenian Emperor instead (Playing a game converted from Imp:Rome). Somehow, I –a lustful, ambitious pagan– managed to seduce her –a married, chaste, content (formerly-)catholic– and then, convinced her to move to my court.

The Roman Emperor exposed us probably the day after my scheme succeeded, but I asked her to join me before then, so I guess the game played that script before letting the AI arrest her. But now, the future Roman Emperor is married to an adultress staying oversees and when he ascends to the throne, she'll likely just move back and take her place as empress.

Oh, and it turns out that she refused to renounce me! I've got to say, I really hope Banna gives Spurius a son, so that way the next generation of emperors can be half-brothers from fathers who were rivals of each other.

Im not sure this qualifies as strange, but I never seen this.
My children, Im albino and the mother of my wife, too. Its not a common thing I checked other albino rulers.
So nothing bugged out or my mods messing stuff up.
I guess I can be lucky. Targaryen-like little rascals.^^

My Spymaster, Dobronega, thinks that my Spymaster, Dobringa's fear that she is being plotted against is all in my Spymaster, Dobringa's imagination. My Spymaster, Dobringa, apparently also seems to refer to herself in the third person.

This guy has gained a rival because he has sworn to avenge Duke Boudewjin ... who was his previous rival. I guess he's mad he didn't get to be the one to kill Boudewjin?
