Compare that to CK2 (those who experience a sudden rise in blood pressure at comparisons to CK2 are well advised to look away and read no further!):Very unfortunate timing, I get the diplomacy event to invite a foreign ruler for a diplomatic visit. I choose the king of Hungary, who declare war on me 3 day after the invitation was sent, but the event continue as planned. (A good example of event/gameplay disconnect)
You could Sway and Antagonize people, which triggered random events to either increase your relationship, or decrease it by doing mean things. If you had Sway on someone in a war, though, the game would notice and trigger different events. For example, you could compliment their tactical ability, suggest an agreement to fight honorably and not use dishonorable tactics (CK2 had unit tactics in warfare), or call for a meeting to discuss a truce. At that meeting you could also unjustly ambush them in a manner presumably inspired by the Massacre at Glencoe (or a smaller scale Red Wedding for those who are more into ASOAIF/GOT
I'd love to see this kind of depth put into CK3, but I fear that shall not happen any time soon, if ever.
