Don't know if this qualifies as strange, but I've never seen the world this shattered

I'm partially responsible for the mess, since I married the heir to West Francia, and had like 6 sons, so every single kingdom went to different sons, then the Karlings started rebelling like crazy, breaking the kingdoms further. The Byzantines were stable for some time and then they started having problems with revolts, and then in a couple of years the muslims took them over completely (the pic is after a crusade for Greece), before they themselves started falling apart. Basically only Lombardy is holding out, everything else is just a mess

I've never played the Charlemagne start, maybe this is common for it I don't know, but was strange for me, not to mention I can't look at the map at all

That not even remotely what matters so much to me in the pic TBPH. Crusade/Jihad/GHW weights have always been a bit fucked. No, what i want to know is how the Spanish and French Emperors became such good friends that the Spanish Emperor not only sat out the Jihad but turned against his religious head and is the prime factor in saving the asses of the French.

Sometimes an event fires where one of your courtiers suggests to go on a trading mission. If everything goes fine, you get cash and the ruler of a random country becomes your friend.
