Don't know if this qualifies as strange, but I've never seen the world this shattered
I'm partially responsible for the mess, since I married the heir to West Francia, and had like 6 sons, so every single kingdom went to different sons, then the Karlings started rebelling like crazy, breaking the kingdoms further. The Byzantines were stable for some time and then they started having problems with revolts, and then in a couple of years the muslims took them over completely (the pic is after a crusade for Greece), before they themselves started falling apart. Basically only Lombardy is holding out, everything else is just a mess
I've never played the Charlemagne start, maybe this is common for it I don't know, but was strange for me, not to mention I can't look at the map at all

The muslim lands I can see also look pretty good and not pollocky.
Its not the Charlie Start, it TOG start, the game hasnt had time to explode borders into stuff like
yet.
India looks just like that in 867 start. Nothing to be surprised, other than Saffarids taking over Persia which is not a surprise in 867 either.
Indeed so. Most of my games nowadays have pretty borders since I'm only playtesting my mod for a couple decades at a time.
