This is more a "huh, is this common?" post than a definite "look how weird this is" from me.
7BFF6525EAFFD6FBC1EC79D6F9884DD9C5BD1957

The previous Basileus (pictured) converted, apparently caused by possession, the Paulicians persevered, and some years later this event happened.
Also note the one remaining Suomenusko province in Pannonia (no Magyars left, not sure about the Avars) because of settling nomads with weird religions.

Edit: (I didn't even see it before) And what is it with that one Waldensian province in Mauretania?

Sooo... I'm running another observer game. I come back after a few hours and find a complete cluster**** in the Middle East. Then, I start to think what must've happened. Decadence revolts? Shia uprising? Nomad invasions? And then I notice that the name "Arabian Empire" displays instead of the usual dynasty name. And then I look up its leader.

Jylet.jpg

Wait.... WHAT THE... HOW?!

I really have no idea....

The Visigoth invasion of the Middle East?

As you can see in the bottom picture, they must've been in power for quite a long time already....

So I look at my save and I spot some unusual green colour in Morocco. Well....

I miss the days when mercenary bands actually invaded you. Now, all they do is disband. What makes them invade you instead?

The 2012 one was priceless. A Mayan calender ended and these people decided the world was going to end........ I think the Mayans would have just extended their calender annother 1000 years.

Actually, the end of a Mayan calendar was a period of celebration. The main Mayan calendar extended abou fifty four years before resetting (by repeating its glyphs). The third, grand calendar (the "Long Count") was not a end of the world prophecy: it was a prophecy of a great new beginning. Mayans celebrated when the fifty four year period reset itself because (if I recall correctly) the end of that cycle was when the good Mayan gods supposedly fought the evil ones to keep Creation intact. At the resetting of the calendar, the Mayans found out if Creation will survive once more.

In other words, the 2012 AD prophecy in the Mayan calendar was a cause for a grand celebration, not the end of Creation!

Can't stop the hordes. After crushing the Slavic princes settles in Khiva and invades the caliphate for persia. Both khazaria and khiva are Sunni and me as Lombardy is going heretic so god help the Catholics.

It is true that the end of their long-term calendar didn't mean a end of the world to them, but you can't say it's a celebration either. They were not able to see the end of their calendar. At best you can say that MAYBE they could celebrate it if they had the possibility, but you can't affirm that they did.
In fact it would probably be depending on the historical context. If the end of the calendar occurs in a favorable context they would surely celebrate, but if not, they could think it's the end of times. It would also depend on the personnality of the different people in charge (priests, potentates and the average Jacktl).

After a short investigation, the Sunni Caliph was (somehow) the count of Caceres, but he died without a dynastic heir... a Visigoth took the throne and held it for more or less a century until his dynasty has grown decadent.

That's a really good diplomat for a 13 year old, it seems like there'd normally be an option to punish them and get chaste or something there
...He's paying awfully close attention considering he has the option to run away

Culture seems to work in a really weird way, could it be there was previously somebody who culture swapped through being a mercenary or something? Then he converted to local culture which was somehow English?

There's another interesting thing here. There are raiders under Dan's Host pillaging your country.
So Dan is an adventurer who doesn't want land, he prefers to be a landless raider.

Also, your soldier is stuck in a funny position.
