So, I think I went and created the Swedish Romeo and Juliet. Yes they both died haha. Win-win for having a feuding house feature in republics haha.
That would be elective gravelkind and loads of sons, which somehow split my kingdom of Norway and Sweden into two. So I went screw it and went down the Merchant Republic route and lost everything! However, the challenge of eliminating the Germanic religion before the year 1000 and rebuilding my empire is what I wanted. All in Ironman.
Oh and what is not shown is England and Scotland being unified under one Pict family.
Someone want to tell me how this happens?

Same thing happened in my game with the Byzantines. I assume the guy has no friends/rivals, and seemingly just converted out of the blue.
My guess is that after the crusade when HRE captured then lost Jerusalem that he was left down there as a count for Muslim reconquers. He converted and someone got in line for the throne.
Not really that strange but I don't understand how this happened. I'm a Messalian Lombard that pledged allegiance to the Byzantine Empire. I pressed a claim against the emperor and won. Shortly after, he wanted to revoke the title I took from him so I looked at his character screen and he had converted to Messalianism. How did this happen? I was the only Messalian in the game, how and why did he change religions?? I took land from him, not the other way around, so he couldn't have converted by being in a Messalian province.

It's so easy to accept one into Knights Templar if they are willing to let the Father of Understanding guide them.
These strange religious things happen sometimes, not sure why. In my current game the Landless Nestorian Patriarch has a court composed entirely of Ashkenazi Jews.
I forgot to take a screenshot, but I just had to lock up my Spymaster because he uncovered a plot where he was plotting to kill me. I don't know if he's a really good Spymaster or a really bad one.
