Here I am, minding my own business in tutorial island. Meanwhile, something's been going on over the continent:
Old Karl died before he could press his claim on Lombardy. Without BBB to fight against, some Lombard king converted to Waldensian; it's been three generations of Waldensian Lombards now, and every liege in the peninsula has been converted. Except for the Pope, who has been kicked out of Rome and is holding to a couple titular titles, unlanded.
Something happened after Pepin that screwed Francia's sucession, and as a result Western and Central Europe are completely shattered, and no one has had the time to holy war Lombardy. Lombardy, however, has found the time to HW poor Baviera out of the map.
Catholic moral authority is around 50-60%, and I don't know if it can survive until Crusades kick in. I'm seriously thinking of beelining towards Kent to give Canterbury to the Pope or the extra MA.
Oh, and Abbasid's and Umayyad's blobs have met in North Africa. Both have been sitting north of 50% decadence for some time now, and Abbasids haven't yet managed to defeat a revolt that has been kicking for decades. And Tengri is reformed. All this fun and we haven't left the 9th century yet.
