if I'm not mistaken it's -1000% fertility for character with celibate trait... It's not even luck you had there, it's a bug !

It looks as though the current Emperor just converted, not sure how though. Shortly after I noticed this, I got the notifications pop up declaring a Christian crusade (I'm playing tribal, so I wasn't really paying much attention to these heathen marches), and next thing I know, Greece has been liberated and is ruled by an Irish King... go figure...
That's not strictly true- a character can get pregnant by event, which ignores fertility.

Byzantium actually left them alone this time. The Serbian King, Radoslav "The Careless", had only one son, so the realm survived Gavelkind, and the Byzantines were already losing ground to the Muslim blob. Serbia formed an alliance with Poland and both of them blobbed quite a bit before finally collapsing thanks to succession.

Imagine that: a Bishop becomes the Holy Roman Emperor, vassalizes the Pope and proclaims himself as an Antipope. Schism?! We don't need no stinking Schism!
All of this makes me wish for a Thocracy/ Holy Order DLC. Sadly, it's unlikely we'll ever get one :sad:
