This is an awesome event. And actually happened IRL. I love historical flavor. I've had it happen twice in my games. Has no meaning whatsoever and no real effect, but it's cool to learn.

Yes probably. Sweden already lost most of its new territories and Germania is revolting.
But the pope won his crusade and half the Iberian peninsula is now owned by the Knights Hospitaller

Byzantium always seem to focus on expanding, while completely ignoring Muslim blobs that are just around the corner.

Forming Scandinavia should be hard for a player. But it seems that even AI can do it easily. In my recent game, I held 90% of de-jure Scandinavia before Ragnar Lothbrok came of age. And it's not very hard to do it. After several wars you easily form Sweden. Then you just ask nearby rulers to become your vassals. Only real threat that remains is Denmark. Still, you can beat them in less than a year. When I subjugated Denmark, every nearby Germanic realm (except Saxony) joined me. What can I do with Ragnar Lothbrok now? Pillage England perhaps? Nah....My army can freely loot Constantinople now. Byzantines cannot find a challenge for my army.
And according to that picture above, AI has no problems either to form a super Viking blob.

AI Saxony always goes to conquer/subjugate that one province, because its weak and a holy site, instead of, y'know, doing something more useful

The AI is becoming better and better. First they unite the church and state then they win the unwinnable. I blame the players for advocating for an "better AI"...

Its a common bug, the children of the Pope get minor claims on the Papacy. But everyone with a claim on the papacy is an antipope. As that's how the antipapal system works. So claim =/= Antipope. So he's an antipope. YOu could press his claim and have a child pope!
