So I have been making an effort to make as big a Dynasty as I can, and giving out as many titles to family members as I can.
This has the interesting effect that half of my empire is internally allied. This means that, in the event of an internal rebelion, half the empire comes to defend my vassal.
It also means that, if a duke wants to claim an independant temple holding, he'll rally over 10k troops to do so. Which I found rather funny.

Wrong timeframe. Began in 1088 for best rurikid situation(kiev in grandpa's hands, his heir is chernigov and HIS heir is novgorod. Middle guy is a genius and usually has excellent stats, meaning you're likely to form primogeniture ruthenia early on and unite the rurikid lands without fighting a single war.At least it isn't a Karling
Yeah, that's what got me about the message. There's a Crusade going on in the Iberian which Ulster is a part of (Bye kids, have fun storming the castle! My wife's decided now would be a good time to seize control of France...), and I thought for a minute that somehow she'd gotten captured and executed by one of the Nassids. Imagine my shock when her lowborn Husband did the deed. I don't know how though. If he offed her, wouldn't it say "executed on the orders of" instead of simply "executed"?
Ah well. One advantage was the new Duke of Ulster has decided to back my son's claim for the throne rather then my 40 year old Cousin's...which means the "plot" to unite Ireland and Wales continues. Though I'm not sure what to do if France gets thrown into the pot as well.

Yeah, I've used nepotism to have my AI vassals conquer entire kingdoms of their own accord with every duke in the empire joining the fight.
Not a strange screenshot in the least. However, I love it when a HRE king cops it good. Note the correct flag/CoAs :mellow:
A dead Salian is a good Salian, as I mainly play post 1066 scenarios

Why I play 1066 or dislikes Salians?
For me, they always end up like the Karlings of the 1066 scenario and spread like the plague. And I find the splintered post 1066 maps more fun

Why you dislike Salians.
At least in my latest game (started in 1066) Dynasty of Salians lost HRE after second ruler (because elective succession) and they died out very early.
I also like to start in 1066 start because Europe started in Old Gods scenario is going mostly to be too messy.
For me they always stay in power and spread to Poland, France, England and Russia. At least no HRE/ERE Commonwealths so far.

Also, marrying my son and heir off to the Princess of the Holy Roman Empire was a bad move on my part. As you can see compared to the last screenshot...my wife is expanding her holdings in Europe. Mostly using the alliance with the HRE to be her muscle. She's gone mad with power!

So Matilda di Canossa went on crusade and halfway through the Crusade the English army that had tagged along went awol and instead of besieging Acre decided to destroy the Italian contingent. My liege was not at war with the English at the time. Such betrayal. Very stabby-in-back. Wow.
