Knights Templar won a crusade, it seems. I don't pretend to know why Pest is separate.
I posted that earlier... it was formed in 883. Karlmann vassalized EF and made the empire then he died and the Chatenois got it... Friedrich the Great Chatenois has been ruling for like 50 years now
this one is from right after the crusade and also, this assassination plot didn't succeed! She survived like three attempts over the course of a year then died naturally
if this weren't an ironman game i'd have abandoned it and reloaded as templar hungary

actually they somehow managed to become independant, if you take a look at the dates of his two screenis (945 for the first with independant Pest, and 940 for the second without independant Pest). Independance faction probably, but after a crusade every pagan should have been chased and the vassals of the knights should have same culture and religion as the great master....

Yeah, this is what happened. Hungary stayed Tengri just like in every TOG game, got hit with a crusade... and then I guess the ruler of Pest wasn't a templar, so he rebelled... or can members of holy orders rebel against the head of the order if they're landed?
If you look at the icon for pest it's catholic, so they did cleanse the Tengriism, but evidently wasn't enough to stop the rebellion
Also the templars never created the kingdom of hungary even though they had enough land at one point... does this have to do with them being an Order? Or is it just the AI being stupid with regard to titles again?
Mildly strange, the king of Scotland managed to press his claim on the Byzantine Empire. Too bad for him the empire has just been defeated in a Zoroastrian GHW for Greece (that's why I rule over Constantinople) and has been having 2-3 civil wars non-stop since his victory. And after that screenshot I've also invaded Anatolia so the once glorious empire is currently just a few provinces in Syria, the Balkans and Scotland. Vae Victis.
I don't think they form kingdom titles.

well, they somehow reclaimed it... and the HRE situation has gotten even crazier, now the independent Karling king of EF has more vassals than the HRE...
Definitely going to convert this one to EUIV after it's over... wonder how it'll model Templar hungary (assuming it survives)
Doesn't help that East Francia and HRE have the same color. Hard to tell which area belongs to which nation in some places. Also, Frisia.
