This reminds me of the time I had an almost fully Sunni Pictland. I'd be interested to know if there's a particular quirk of mechanics that lends itself towards Islam spreading in the north.

I would say Norse marrying nomad, along Norse adventurer and mercenary picking up random Muslim courtier in their court, before inheriting/conquering a title.

This is likely due to an event where a kin in your court with a claim might ask to press said claim, but said war is aimed at the title itself and not the top liege, thus the war get invalidated if title is not held by an independent ruler.

So I decided to run the game in Observer Mode overnight to generate an interesting world to play EU4 in. I didn't realize that the game doesn't end in 1453 if you're in observer mode. Things got... wacky.

If I had to guess, Byzantium got really big and got hit by an independence faction that included Aragon, Bohemia, and Kanem Bornu. Wait, what is Trebizond doing over there.

I thought I would get rid of the false pope, but I guess everyone didn't like that I was retaking the holy land and banded against me. I decided against the war until I could move troops from the further reaches of my empire to the HRE border, but when my ruler died and I tried to coronate my heir, the pope asked me to get rid of the antipope, and joined against me anyway! Hahaha.

Three narrow flanks at the same time! (Is this actually unusual or 'strange'? I genuinely don't know, I don't tend to even try doing most of the OP combat stuff...)

It can happen.

It's probably going to be a long battle, in particular the middle flank. Narrow flank makes the matchup of the commanders much more important as you can't outnumber with a larger army, so a much better commander can inflict heavy losses on a bigger army with a narrow flank. On the other hand, a larger army still has more morale, so if the commanders are evenly matched the larger army will still win, and when the losing army retreats the narrow flank breaks.

Makes sense. And indeed despite having the narrow flanks and fantastic commanders I was slowly losing ground (at least in the skirmish phase for about six days, don't know how it would have progressed otherwise) until those 6000 more troops you see up there swooped in.

I am not sure if the pope is supposed to have a book called " The Lusty French Maid " In his possession. But this pope sure does. Yes those traits come from a mod. Most of them anyway. Something tells me this pope when he says he is reading is not reading the bible!

It's likely a cautionary tale.

Yes, let's go with that.;)
