Khagan of the Mongol and Byzantine Empire switch to Hinduism and with him nearly every vassal too. In just one second! In my current game the Mongols conquer like crazy and just took over Byzantium. Nothing new you say? Just wait. The Khagan converted just a few days later to Hindu and with him nearly all direct non King tier vassals.

I got some message about the Khan of Poland. Had to check, of course, and it got worse.

Not to mention that his title is "Khan" but he's a feudal Catholic Christian. Though I guess the title comes with the Cuman culture?

That's correct. If you're Altaic culture group or a nomad and have a king-level title, you're called a khan.

Now, you might be asking what is so strange about this image. And the strange thing is how un-strange it is.

This has to be one of the nicest post-Charlemagne western Europe I've seen and a long time. And that to me, makes it truly strange.

Sadly, the Umayyad are, as usual, all mighty. They've currently got just shy of 18k troops, sitting at a mere 3% decadence, and are in the process of finishing Asturias once and for all.

If all the catholic kingdoms where to gang up on them, maybe they could repel the Andalusian invaders (yeah, they went native). But until the crusades are launched, I doubt we will see that happen.

I'd be more interested in Italian flag.
That's just from a small mod I slapped together to use some of the flags I like from ck2+ in vanilla.

Charlemange didn't form his empire, by the look of it, the Charles-Karloman split is still in place. Mainland Europe is neat and tidy. I was about to agree....

And then I saw England.

AIIEEEEEE BLINDED BY PICTISH BLOBBING!

Damn you, Mercia! Why can't you marry to an English lord if you're going to Die?!!

Heh, yeah. That was me. Didn't even plan it. Married my eldest to one of Offa's daughters. Fast forward a couple of generations and the child of that union is now king of the picts. I then notice that Mercia is in the middle of a succession crises and I've got way more men than any of the participants.

It was an opportunity I could not pass up.

Interesting factoid, it's Karloman's, not Karl's line that currently rules West Francia and Saxony. The only legitimate son of Karl inherited, but then died in battle after only having two daughters. The title's then passed to Karloman's eldest son, Pepin, who later became known as Pepin the Magnanimous. He actually married my aunt... who fathered the current king of west francia.... who is now married to my daughter.

And I just realized that the current Duke of Mercia is my cousin, and I just hitched my youngest son to one of his daughters.

huh.

I will note that the Icelings did marry into the other Anglo-saxon kingdoms. It's just that pretty much all those alliances were defunct my the time the 3 way for Mercia (the Queen of Hwicce and her many allies threw their hat into the ring not long after I did) kicked off due to deaths, mostly of illness and depression from the look of it.

If they get to Toulouse, the Crusades will be unlocked. But maybe it would not be enough since there is no big christian blob that could do the work (maybe Middle Francia, and even that is not assured)

This thread is for weird situations in CK II, so let me introduce:

Yes, it is Karl the Great. He was easily beaten by Karloman, after that run to Saxons, turned Frisian and end his life as simple commoner. His dynasty weren't luckier. Kingdom after Kingdom, duchy after duchy - all was lost to random minor dynasties, which made map of Western Europe more and more bordergoring.
Currently, the last Karling ruler is merely, inprisoned duke of Gerle under King of Aquitannia.

That is Western Europe. Ummayads fall under random vassals' revolt, which take them out Sultanate of Andalusia, currently ruled by Shia Caliph. Bretons united and decided to colonize Castille, British Isles is a mess (as always), one of Anglo-Saxon rulers inherited duchy of Mumu and decided to take it as his primary title, Avars falls into hands of Bohemians, who currently control Bohemia, Pannonia, Croatia and Serbia. Lombardy survived and colonized Northern Africa (as always).

This guy is my favorite. His is a younger brother of Ragnar Woollen Shorts, decided to settle in Duchy of Finland and quickly was assimilated by local culture. His descendants went even further, turned finish paganism and ruled Duchy of Finland until was conquered by holy war by my country.

Sounthern Finland and whole Denmark are under my control, while Saxony (still Germanic) inherited Kingdom of Norway and control it all time. Sweden was united by Af Munso dynasty (first king was Ragnar Woollen Shorts).
