Norway out, now only the Swedes to come - true unity will bring true unity to the New World, a Scandinavian union!
The Swedes will have to accept the union or perish.

Sweden’s rightful place in the world is as a province anyways. :D
;)

Wow, interesting choice gobbling up most of England. Great read!
Thanks! I'm using the Missions expanded mod and it gives Denmark permanent claims over most of Britannia so the choice was easy.

Time for the final chapter.

Chapter X - The Dream Achieved

TGxAUMV.jpg

Much of the 17th century was dominated by the colonial conflicts between major powers in the new world. The Dutch competed with the Scandinavians and the Portuguese in the colonization of the Northern continent.

222yCZ5.jpg

In the south too the Europeans competed for dominance. The Inca civilization in the Andes was still mainly untouched by any European hand, though both the Portuguese and the English eyed the mountainous region with great hunger for it's gold. Here in the south the Scandinavians mostly competed with the Scots, whose colony bordered the Danish lands.

3Ke8qxU.png

Back in the old world the conflict with the English seemed to go on forever. With the death of king James his nephew was crowned as king of England, despite the promises made to the Danish queen.
Christina's armies marched into London once again, this time they stayed permanently, and Philip's kingdom was reduced to just the South West of the country, he was mockingly called the "king of Cornwall".

neM7qMO.png

The Danish conquest had forever changed the British isles. The subjects of the English crown were incorporated into the Union system and had equal rights with their Scandinavian cousins, this was necessary to maintain peace, since the population of England was greater than that of Denmark.

8Qpyib3.png

At the end of 1630, in the 24th year of the reign of Queen Christina, Prussia invaded the Commonwealth, once it's ally, then a major threat to Prussia's existence. Now Poland was weak and ripe for taking.

nYAsr1q.png

The Queen sent some token forces to take part in the Polish war, but at the same time she traveled to London and was received by the English parliament. Few days later she was crowned with the crown of St.Edward the Confessor at Westminster Abbey. The Empire of Knud den Store had been restored and Denmark rules the waves.

eywfGSV.png

The Prussian war against the Poles ended three years later with utter Polish defeat. Denmark gained the minor Novgorodian provinces of Luki and Ostrov for their participation. Few years later the commonwealth was ravaged by the Austrians and then some time later the Russian's came. In the period of twenty years Warsaw was sacked no less than three times, the decline of the once mighty Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth had begun.

JVmQOMA.png

By the 1640s the Danish capital had grown into one of the greatest cities on Earth. Wealth from her empire fueled the growth and Europe started speaking of a distinct "Copenhagen school of architecture". Danish power had grown immensely since the incorporation of Norway, and now it was time for the Swedes to see the light. With England nearly gone and the Poles defeated Sweden had no foreign supporters.

4G9wbbf.jpg

(Flag by Fennomanic from Devianart)

At the beginning of 1644 representatives of all estates of the Nordic realms (including the English) met at the city of Kalmar in Sweden, where the original Union treaty was signed in 1397. There at last the Swedish nobles had to surrender and after more than three months of negotiations the Act of Union was signed and gave birth to the United Kingdom of Scandinavia and England. 247 years after the original Kalmar Union was founded, the eternal dream of the two Margaret's was fulfilled by their descendant, who was thus addressed as "Christina, By the Grace of God, Queen of the United Kingdom of Scandinavia and England, Defender of the Faith, Duchess of Holstein, Estonia, Ingria and of Livonia. Protector of the Baltic Sea and of Lord Novgorod the Great"

gMdlHtU.png

The great waters of the Baltic
Are at last in our firm hands;
Russia respects our prowess,
The North rules the English lands.

Lithuanian hordes no longer
May disturb our calm domain.
Proud Poland won't be the stronger
evermore, as the eagle wanes.

Make the most of every triumph —
For our foes it's time to see:
The North reaches farther-higher
Over mountain peaks and seas.

Brilliant Queen, gaze at visions,
And behold, a woman great:
In your thoughts and your decisions
As one soul we all partake.

Look at grand cathedrals' splendor,
Contemplate our strength and grace;
See your subjects' hearts surrender
To rejoice before your face!

Hail to you for this, o Christina
Gentle mother to us all!

And that's that. My goals are mostly accomplished and I felt it's a good time to end this AAR. I'll continue playing for a while before delving into Dharma so an epilogue is still to come. I'll show some statistics and the world map. (The Ming explosion did happen, I'm so happy.)

I give thanks to all that followed this journey and I'm looking forwards to seeing you all again in future endeavors. I'm already planning my next adventure, hint: It's quite close to Denmark. ;)

Thanks again for everyone!

Epilogue

The reign of queen Christina ushered in the golden age of Scandinavia that lasted until the Napoleonic wars and beyond. The great queen surrendered her life in 1655 and her successors continued to pilot the ship that she plotted on the right course.

The world in 1755, during the reign of king Christian III

Europe
sTtBYRt.jpg

In Europe the triple alliance of France, Prussia and Scandinavia stand dominant. British isles were brought under the rule of the United Kingdoms during the reign of king Frederik III. In Germany Prussia has eclipsed the Hapsburg's as the dominant power in Germany and finally, the Netherlands have united the low countries and formed an alliance with Scandinavia to protect themselves against French or Prussian aggression.

North America
s685siP.jpg

North America has been divided by the European powers. In Central America the Mayan's have resurrected their empire and still hold on their own against the French.

South America
ZErxPjG.jpg

South America is mainly dominated by Scandinavia with the Union of the crowns and the conquest of Scotland, the British colonies are now under Scandinavian control. The French made their entry into the continent by annexing the Inca Empire.

Asia
TwLc2oy.jpg

In Asia the struggle for the Mandate of Heaven has been going on for at least one hundred and fifty years. Korea was once a strong contender for the crown, but was taken by surprise when Japan invaded her shores. The latest contestant to enter the race is Delhi, who seeks to break into the Chinese heartland trough Tibetan plateau.

Indonesia
BrcNCvL.jpg

The Spice islands are another lucrative playground for the colonial powers. The Scandinavian Trade Company holds a solid position in the region and protects it jealously with it's own armed forces.

Africa
AweIphv.jpg

Africa is yet another battlefield in the colonial conflicts. Morocco is the rising star of the continent due to their alliance with the Ottoman Turks. Yemen has conquered the ancient Ethiopian empire, but finds itself standing against the power of the Sublime Porte.
