Dear PDX!

I just wanted to thank you for the release of 2.2 and MegaCorp, I am having a good time (I just try to note all the bugs/exploits/unbalances I find and ignore them while playing). I know its a rough release (like... most .0s), but I am not worried, I know that with the help of the community the devs will overcome most problems.

2.2 is awesome. The current version of the beta build is my favourite version of Stellaris even with the bugs and problems. I have faith you guys will straighten it out and that the game will keep improving. I love what the team has done with this game and I now consider it my 'main' PDS game. So much depth and I can think of so many ways to set up an empire that would actually play really differently. It's a really thoughtful game now and I'm having a great time with it.

Yeah I feel like the forum creates an inaccurate image of the feedback. Sure there are people who don't like certain changes (and with some they are right), but the overall opinion is (at least I believe it is) way more positive.
Myself I am amazed. Sure there are bugs and I wouldn't say everything is perfect (Where is a materialist MegaCorp civic? Or at least a reskin of Mechanist), but there will be time to address the details and I believe some changes will be altered, because of the feedback. What matters is the core of the changes and it is marvellous. In my opinion the process of thinking was HiveMinds are boring -> Make them more unique -> Can't, tile system doesn't help -> Let's change tile system -> Might as well have an economic MegaCorp empire type. It really shows the passion for making Stellaris a good game and I am grateful, that they decided to do the rework, even though it was so much work.
To me Stellaris is a game that wasn't supposed to work. A game that PDX thought of but wasn't really sure how to make it stand out. Their plan just seemed to be to release it and then change whatever did not work; 3 FTLs were interesting, but it's Hyperlanes that allowed for more strategic gameplay, Tile system was well tested, but had limitations. I believe that via the feedback on the game and passion it can be made into a real great game.

I really like the new systems and it was a joy to explore and try out.
I can see myself spend alot more time on stellaris than I ever have.
Sadly I get really hung up on the small things that are not working.
Needless to say Im looking forward to the upcoming fixes.

Stellaris for me is still a huge, mostly empty canvas with only edges and some spots inside painted in, but yes, it's getting there. Getting rid of the tile system certainly helped.

Most of the game elements still feel like temporary bland placeholders put there until they get around to implementing actual mechanics and contents. When I'm playing the game, I keep getting that "oh, this could be so awesome if they actually fleshed it out" feeling over and over again.

There's huge potential, and I keep my fingers crossed that it gets fulfilled.

As i said in a VERY similar thread just before the launch, PDX should have tested 2.2 WAY more. It has game-breaking issues, and those who paid for the DLC* have been kind of screwed, as always in these cases.

2.2 makes peace time and economy way way way more interesting, but AI is broken, sectors are a mess, trade protection too, gateways creates a lagfest. You really shouldn't release a paid DLC when the game is broken and you know it is.

The planetary rework has rekindled my interest in the game, enjoying it once again (fleet and planetary mechanics were draining the fun for me prior to their respective overhauls) got a few other niggling issues I keep in my sig, but glad to see some progress towards, what I feel, is a better game.

2.2 got me back to playing Stellaris for the first time in a long long time. It's awesome. Anyone complaining about bugs and such clearly haven't played any of the old EU engine games. 2.2 is in such a good shape compared to what PDS games used to be that it doesn't even compare. And continued support is virtually guaranteed to come. Thanks devs!

I don't actually think the feedback on the forums has been at all bad.

There's a lot of stuff people want tweaked/are still trying to get their heads around, which is understandable given the scope of the changes, but I've seen almost no push back on the new features in general or the overall direction, and what there is has been respectfully disagreed into oblivion, which is a contrast to 2.0 where there was plenty of 'bring back warp' stuff.

Personally, I've been having a blast with it, and that's with the poor AI and unbalanced economy, and there's a whole new meta to discover with the new economy system which is leaps and bound ahead of the shitty tiles. It also completely destroyed my sleep patterns the first weekend it was out.

Just knowing about the content of the update made me unable to play the game before it was released. I can barely even imagine playing the game in its previous state.

The only gamebreaking bug imo is the late game performance... as it has always been. Looking forward to the day I can actually play until I become a fallen empire ;) (that should totaly be a thing btw)

Yes, this thread is quite necessary. It is true that the 2.2 has a lot of failures, but sometimes it seems that we do not value the work of the developers. There are many assholes out there who do not care about being educated because "duh, internet".
Personally, I am delighted with the new changes, and I feel very grateful to a company that takes care of their products and allows me to enjoy so much.

As others are saying, good job devs! There are a few problems, to me the most important one is the unusability of sectors currently, but otherwise I like the new economic system very much. It feels more alive than ever.

Not that I think circlejerking is a productive use of anyone's time but I agree that 2.2 has the potential to turn Stellaris into a truly legendary game. Just help out the AI figure out the economy please and then we're all cooking with satramene gas.

After a rough learning curve re: economic management, I've been won over by 2.2's gameplay changes...can see myself sinking 100+ more hours into it. But today I started building gateways and now the game's gone to stutter hell. Disappointing that I can't keep playing.
