I think everyone can agree one of the best parts of a new patch is seeing which nations get their own NI sets. And one of the most frequent topics in the suggestion forums are suggestions for said new NIs. Unfortunately, they can be difficult to find, and can fade away pretty quickly. Hence this thread.

As I recall there used to be a thread similar for this a while back, but since I can't seem to find it, I've created this; a new NI compilation thread, where I'll try to upload any suggested NI sets I see for nations that do not yet have them for convenience's sake. If there is an Idea Set of yours for a nation that does not have an unique NI set, or if I missed one of yours, please; feel free to post.

Edit: Also, please try to keep it restrained to only tags that are already in game or have been confirmed are being added.

At the request of @Trin Tragula, I’ve composed an index of this thread that I’ll do my best to keep updated. I’ve separated it into NIs for countries that already have them (which may or may not have been influenced by the ones in this thread) and ones that don’t, and then alphabetized them for ease of access. Author will be put in parenthesis.

This very belated update to the list was courtesy of @Aquamancer, who did the legwork in updating the thread to match the current situation of NIs ingame, as well as to make it more visually appealing.

Just a heads up: Next patch shall be a pure bug-fixing patch so I won't be adding any NIs from here to that either. I will still keep on monitoring this thread and the suggestions forum though. You won't be forgotten :)

Although in our case, it led to revolutions, by granting land to disgruntled Mexicans on the condition they become Texians instead, we can increase the development of our new frontiers."

"By recruiting willing entrepeneurs from other nations, granting them land in exchange for recruiting new settlers and aiding development, we will get an influx of able men that can help us govern and administrate Texas!"

Melting of Two Cultures: Accepted Culture Treshold -15 %
"In Texas, Americans and Mexicans have long lived side by side. This have contributed to a certain blend of cultures culminating in a Texian one, helping to develop an understanding of other cultures."

Slave Plantations: Production Efficiency +15 %
"By importing cheap slave labour from Africa, we can increase our production massively. And the best is, no Yankees will be able to stop us!"

Texian Legation: +1 Diplomatic Relations

Texian Ambitions: +0,5 Republican Tradition/Year

Did some updates to my Texian nation according to suggestions. Thanks for the feedback! Moved Attrition to Defend the Alamo, and added Discipline (Lone Star Nation) and Republican Tradition (Ambition). Changed Legality to +1 Dip-Rep from +1 Diplomat, and changed religious unity to +1 Tolerance of True Faith.

This is not really the place to put NI's for a nation not in the game - I'd suggest creating a separate thread lobbying for a Texas tag and include this with it.

Sorry, didn't know that. Might do so soon, but then maybe with more suggestions for more Colonial Nations. Saw some other Ideas here for colonials, so I though this was the appropriate thread.
Still think Texian would be cool though!

I agree, Texas does make sense as a formable colonial nation, even if its formation as an independent state is somewhat outside of the time frame, it is distinct enough as a nation to be included. Although another thread to suggest it would likely be more helpful then keeping the discussion in this one.

I feel like the HRE should have its own ideas if you form the nation. Here is my suggestion. I am going to suggest some fairly good ideas so the player will consider changing ideas and because forming the HRE is quite the achievement.

The Curia is permanently controlled by the Holy Roman Empire
"In The 10th century Emperor Otto II regarded the imperial crown as a mandate to control the papacy. He dismissed popes at his will and installed replacements more to his liking. We shall follow in his footsteps"

"As the Holy Roman Empire has Centralized and built its army it is now time to reclaim our rightful Roman Heritage."
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Ambition
+5% Discipline
______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Tell me what you think. I understand the numbers will probably be shifted around and I don't know if the Curia one is possible to code in, but I hope you would not have anything against HRE ideas. I just think with a whole region under one rule with many different cultures it makes more sense for the HRE to have its own ideas. I tried to do as @Trin Tragula said and put a 2 or 3 historical ideas in the beginning and the rest be newer ambitions since the nation is in a different time period. If the Curia one is not possible could you recommend an idea that would work with the description. Thanks for reading :)

The North American Natives really deserve some more love. If it wasn't for exam season, I would jump straight on for the Apache, as they were a warrior culture and it's always fun to write on, and play, spacemarines of every continent (Prussia/Nepal/Songhai/Japan). There are many other tribes with their own history and traditions, the navajo comes to mind, just laying there waiting for anyone who wants to dive into native-american/Manifest destiny history.

See my last post from a week or so ago. It won't be until the patch after the upcoming one :)

Thread has died GG
I'm currently in exams, and I wouldn't be surprised if others are in a similar spot. The thread isn't dead so much as currently inactive.
If you feel like contributing, please do. I think its important to realize that even if we put forward ideas, Paradox isn't obliged to implement them so they can take their time. If they feel like the ideas make sense, and DDRJake has said a few times the objective is for all starting nations to have ideas, they'll implement the ones that feel right.

Well, the beauty of it is that they're more concerned with flavor text and historical names than balance (of course, that doesn't mean you shouldn't try to make it as balanced and well-built as possible - I doubt they'll take a suggestion for an idea set with +25% Discipline seriously).

Reject kafir rule
Why should we labor under the unbelievers who are to weak to properly run their own state of affairs? Not sure if I can use this thread for suggesting an improvement to existing NIs. The Burgundian ones are pretty weak. My suggestion would be to kick out Promote the Estates General and replace it with:

Warrior Dukes
Our Dukes have always been in the forefront of their battles, inspiring their men by leading from the front.
+
1 leader shock

Reason for this change is that generally there are more than enough mercenaries around anyway. Also, by the time you get this NI, you should have a lot of manpower anyway.

Ambitions
+5% Heavy ship combat ability

I. Restore Althing – Founded in 930 Alþingi, was a supreme holder of legislative power in Iceland ensuring law and order. During the years of foreign influence role of our Parliament was greatly reduced. Now when Icelanders acquired some level of freedom it seems reasonable to restore it.

II. Knarr – Although outlanders sail in ships of modern desing, we found that our old cargo ships knerrir can successfully compete with barques and caravels. They are less expansive what should provide us some extra income.

III. Sunstone – “the weather was sick and stormy… The King looked about and saw no blue sky… then the King took the Sunstone and held it up, and then he saw where the Sun beamed from the stone.” Rocks on Iceland hold plenty of high-quality sunstones, they should help our sailors to navigate through the northern seas. Hopefully the knowledge of how to use them won’t be forgotten by future generations..

IV. Continue Islendingabok - Book of Icelanders is a historical work which gives us insight on early Icelandic history, laws, government, administration, settlement and genealogy. In our interest is to collect such data which might help us to solve potential conflicts and prevent embezzlements.
V. Guðbrandsbiblía - The first complete version of the Bible in Icelandic, printed in Hólar College by order of bishop Guðbrandur Þorláksson in AD 1584. (some bullshit text about bringing yokels closer to god and one true faith)

VI. Sagas – Renaissance and baroque are blooming through and through Europe. They are referring to ancient Greece and Rome, but on Iceland we have relics of Vikings. The sagas are magnificent stories about Viking heroes voyages and battles with Prose Edda on the top of them.

VII. Like forefathers – Our forefathers sailed in uncharted waters, discovered and settled land such as Iceland, Greenland and Vinland. Now Spain, France and Great Britain colonize New World, we shall carve some of it for us. Lands of Frisland, Hy-Brasil, Rupes Nigra and Elder Isles await.

Reactions:
I've been working on suggestion about Uzbek and decided to make national ideas for both Bukhara and Uzbek. I'm gonna drop the thread later this night, as for now I leave the ideas here to necro this very important thread. If anyone thinks the ideas are overpowered or could do with better narration - please let me know what else should I put there.

Traditions: recover army morale +10% ; land attrition -25%
Ideas:
  1. Traditions of the White Horde: Yearly Horde Unity +0,5 ; aggressive expansion: -10%
"Our borders are reminescent of those of White Horde - with our legacy we can claim to be the successors of Jochi Khan and therefore of all of the Western Mongol Empire!"
  2. Punish the Khazakhs: Discipline +5%
"These cowards who fled south of Balkhash were but a thorn in the side of our army - without them Uzbek hordes will be much more efficient!"
  3. Coins from Orda-Bazar: National tax modifier +10%
"Orda-Bazar is the biggest monetary center in the Uzbek Khanate. Silver and copper coins produced there fuel coffers of the Khan almost as actively as raids."
  4. Know your enemy: Land Leader Maneuver +1
"Khans of Uzbek often begin their military careers in foreign, usually hostile, armies. Leading their soldiers not only gave us field experience but also knowledge of our foes' tactics."
  5. Defeat the Timurids: Siege Ability +15%
"For generations Shaybanids and Timurids were fighting over dominance of Central Asia. As their 'empire' crumbles our might can only grow."
  6. Muslim heritage: Missionary Strenght +2%
"Uzbek Khanate takes its name ofter Öz Beg - the longest reigning khan of the Golden Horde. He was also the one who converted the empire to islam. Next khans of the White Horde and now Uzbek have held strong onto their beliefs. Strenght of faith renders onto the power of imams in the khanate - some of the higher ranked claim to be descendants of the prophet himself!"
  7. People of the western great steppes: National Manpower +25%
"Khanate of Uzbek spans from western Siberia to the banks of Amu Darya. Its lands are home to many groups of people who will fight in the name of khan, willingly or not."
Ambition:Land Leader Shock +1

Traditions: Cavalry Combat Ability +20% ; Looting Speed +33%
  1. Unite the Uzbek tribes: Land Forcelimit Modifier +25%
"Shaybanids always had an ambition of uniting the Uzbek tribes under their rule. The greatest advancements in this mission were made during the reign of Abu'l-Khayr and his son. Conquest of Bukhara by Muhammad Shaybani in 1500 marks the end of his dynasty's struggle - the tribes were finally united."
  2. Dominate the Transoxania: Yearly Legitimacy/Devotion +1
"Mawarannahr, the region between Amu Darya and Syr Darya rivers is home to rich history, culture... and cities. Khanate of Bukhara is undisputed ruler of these lands - no one even dares to question our claim!"
  3. The Bukhara Library: idea cost -10%
"The reign of Abd al-Aziz Khan saw a construction of Library of Bukhara labaled as 'Having no Equal'. The Library saw the inception of many talented scholars and works of art."
  4. Back on the Road Again: Trade Steering +10% ; Caravan Power +20%
"By acquiring Bukhara and Samarkand we've put ourselves on the world's trade map - every important trade route goes through our territory and we will make use of it!"
  5. Bukharan education: technology cost -5%
"Khanate of Bukhara undertook an extensive public education system. The education started with 2 years of elementary school at the age of six. After that the student could go to madrasah, where he would take part in 3 step learning, 7 years each, which equals 23 years of studying."
  6. Settle down: monthly autonomy change -0,05%
"Nomadic life, however exciting it is, turned out to be ineffective compared to settled rule. Surely it's easier to pick one capital instead of changing it every 20 years. It's time replace the saddle with the throne, from which we shall centralise the rule over our country!"
  7. The ataliqs: Tolerance of the True Faith +2
"Emirs always played a very important role in rule over Bukhara. XVIII century marked a great boost in their influence, especially among tutors of heirs to the Bukharan throne, leading to formation of emirate of Bukhara."
Ambition: Morale of Armies +10%
