I think everyone can agree one of the best parts of a new patch is seeing which nations get their own NI sets. And one of the most frequent topics in the suggestion forums are suggestions for said new NIs. Unfortunately, they can be difficult to find, and can fade away pretty quickly. Hence this thread.

As I recall there used to be a thread similar for this a while back, but since I can't seem to find it, I've created this; a new NI compilation thread, where I'll try to upload any suggested NI sets I see for nations that do not yet have them for convenience's sake. If there is an Idea Set of yours for a nation that does not have an unique NI set, or if I missed one of yours, please; feel free to post.

Edit: Also, please try to keep it restrained to only tags that are already in game or have been confirmed are being added.

At the request of @Trin Tragula, I’ve composed an index of this thread that I’ll do my best to keep updated. I’ve separated it into NIs for countries that already have them (which may or may not have been influenced by the ones in this thread) and ones that don’t, and then alphabetized them for ease of access. Author will be put in parenthesis.

This very belated update to the list was courtesy of @Aquamancer, who did the legwork in updating the thread to match the current situation of NIs ingame, as well as to make it more visually appealing.

This thread is more than 5 months old.

It is very likely that it does not need any further discussion and thus bumping it serves no purpose. If you feel it is necessary to make a new reply, you can still do so though.

Also worth noting, both for @DDRJake and other fellows that in this old thread, that there is a massive list of NIs in this thread, all already coded. Tis' only a matter of Copy and Paste to instert those into the game

Word of warning, most of that collossal list already got ideas via pacthes since that was posted.

That was the thread I was looking for but couldn't find. Thanks!

Yeah, i mentioned that in my post. I could wade through that massive back log and post here the ones that apply to tags that still dont have ideas, if that's convinient for you :)

Would be much appreciated, I would imagine.

From that big thread, Kokkand ideas

Traditions: +15% Cav combat ability, +10% Production Efficiency

Through legendary Altun Bishik our khans trace their lineage to Tamerlane and the Great Khan himself. Let us stick that into our enemies' heads to remind them

Alim Beg's Efficiency: Mercenary Cost -25%

The son of Narbuta Beg, Alim was ruthlessly efficient. He hired ferocious Tajik mercenaries and expanded the Khanate. Although his ruthlessness did damage our diplomats' reputations, does it really matter?

Hostility Around Us: +2% attrition for enemies

Despite our best efforts, our neighbors are still very hostile to us. No matter, let them come. Let them dare to step foot into our Khanate. Our men will fight to death!

Maintenance of Silk Road: -1 Unrest, +15% tax modifier

Our land sits right on the glorious Silk Road! Lets regulate this route and provide safety for traveling merchants

City of Winds: +1 Tolerance of the True Faith, -10% Building cost

Kokand is the major religious center of the Fergana Valley, boasting hundreds of mosques and madrasahs - every visitor appearing here is in awe of our piety and architectural prowess. God has clearly blessed us.

Dakhman-Shakhon: Prestige from Land Battles +1

Grave of the Kings is the family mausoleum of the Kokand khans. A beautiful fence surrounds the mausoleum, as well as a prayer place. The entrance doors are decorated with carved inscriptions in Arab, taken from Koran, as well as verses written by khans themselves - after the millenias only two things will remain: Kingdom of God and glory of Kokkand

Dayuan Kingdom: +1 Diplomatic Reputation

According to Chinese chronicles, the ambassador Zhang Qian visited our precedessor, Dayuan Kingdom, as early as before the birth of prophet Jesus. He has been clearly impressed by Dayuan and seeked its help against Xiongnu hordes - we should restore our diplomatic position and once again stand between Xitoy and Steppes

Mysorean Ideas from the gigathread

Ambitions: Tolerance of the True Faith +2, Artillery Cost -20%

Devotees of Chamunda: +5% Discipline

Of the many Hindu deities, one who comes in for particular veneration in Mysore is Chamunda, a goddess of war who is also one of the Seven Mother Goddesses. With her at the head of our armies, our enemies will be terrified and we will not fail.

Lords of the Southern Deccan: Accepted Culture Threshold -15%

As the formerly dominant power of Vijayanagar declines, our own realm has grown in its place, and now encompasses much of the southern Deccan Plateau. This being the case, we now control a large area populated by many different cultures, and it is in the interest of our realm to accommodate these people as best we can

Mysorean Pragmatism: Agressive Expansion Impact -15%

India is a turbulent place, with all sorts of realms vying for power. Shifting alliances abound, and we would do well to appease those larger than us for our mutual benefit.

Bounded by the Ghats: Local Defensiveness +20%

Our heartland is located in the midst of the Deccan Plateau, which is separated from the Indian Ocean by the Eastern and Western Ghats. Although they do somewhat restrict our access to the sea, these mountains also offer us protection from our foes beyond them. Mysore ought to make full use of them.

Land of Many Faiths: +20% Religious Unity

The Deccan is home to people of many faiths - Hindus, Muslims and Jains, to name a few. Although we are firm in our own religious convictions, it would only harm the realm to force our vision on others too harshly. Instead, the people of our realm will be better able to serve Mysore and its goals if they feel secure.

Centre of Kannada Literature: Idea Cost -10%

Vijayanagar's decline has left us as custodians of the Kannada literary legacy. As a consequence, Mysore is home to a diverse range of poets, religious commentators and philosophers, and even those writers outside of the direct influence of the royal court add to our realm's cultural glories.

Masters of Rocketry: +15% Artillery Combat Ability

Gunpowder has been in use across our homeland for centuries, but few have exploited its full potential as we do. We have developed artillery that fires salvos of metal rockets, capable of travelling hundreds of metres and terrifying our enemies.

Ambtion: -10% Military Tech Cost

Sioux Ideas, also from that thread:

Sioux Traditions: +5% Discipline, -25% Migration Cooldown

Akichita Societie: +10% Infantry Combat Ability, -20% Mercenary cost ( I think that is not really balanced, but dont shoot the messenger, 'im just copy pasting)

We can establish cadres of veteran warriors from among our fighters, the most adept at war we have, to lead us into battle.

The Old Winter Counts : Better Relations over time +30%

Our tribe's heritage can be traced back many hundreds of years to the coming of the White Buffalo Calf Woman. Our illustrious past is a source of great pride.

Chasing the Buffallo : +1 Colonist

"We have long taken what we needed from the great buffalo migrations, and our brave mounted hunters can follow these beasts over great distances for their meat and hides

Sacred Hills : -1 Global Unrest

The old and rich Black Hills are topped with thick, fertile forest suited for hunting and are a site of great spiritual significance.

Seven Council Fires : -15% Stability Cost Modifier

At a great gathering, where all the seven nations meet with a fire to symbolise their presence, we can conduct much of our ritual and administrative business.

Sun Dance: +2 Tolerance of the True Faith

We must invoke the goodwill of the natural world through a personal sacrifice, and sometimes a painful one. By arranging a great Sun Dance we can reinforce our unity as a people and call upon the world to support us.

Embrace the Horse: Cavalary Combat Ability +15%

Now that these animals have arrived to our homeland, they offer great benefits to the buffalo hunters. We would be amiss to ignore this opportunity.

Sioux Ambitions: +25% Land Forcelimit Modifier

Cornish Ideas from that post

Traditions: +33% Land Forcelimit Modifier, +50% Hostile Core Creation cost

Resisting the Saxons: +10% Land Morale

Just as our ancestors fought long ago to keep the west Saxons out, now we must fight to push back their descendants

Eager Conscripts: -20% Regiment Recruitment Time

The brave men of Cornwall eagerly join the army and navy when called. In 1497, in reaction to King Henry's tax levy, a blacksmith from St. Keverne and a lawyer of Bodmin incited many of the people of Cornwall into armed revolt against the King. Ang in every next great conflict Cornish people proved their courage

The Commentaries of Richard Rufus: -10% Diplomatic Techonolgy Cost

A philosopher well-known in his day, Richard Rufus was a Franciscan noted for his commentaries. He had a particular interest in Aristotle and fostered substantial interest in new theology - we cannot let his heritage to perish.

Expand the Stannary Courts: +15% Production Efficiency

The Stannary Parliaments and Stannary Courts are legal institutions in Cornwall, which administer equity for the region's tin-miners and tin mining interests. By developing them further we can secure tin industry, which has enormous importance to the English economy.

Cornish Pirates: +25% Privateer Efficency

The privateers born from Cornish Stock will be the terror of the seas, and no gold-laden galleon of enemies of Cornwall will be safe as long as they sail!

Holy Wells: +1 Tolerance of the True Faith (Could also be Legitimacy/Devotion, or Fervor, pap influence, etc...)

The many and ancient Holy Wells of Cornwall are over a hundred in number, and each is dedicated to their own saint. They remind us daily of our faith in God Almighty and His countless blessings

Safe Harbours:
-15% Heavy Ship Cost

The many and secure harbours along our long coastline would be a wonderful place to set up dockyards and construct a grand fleet; our nation is well accustomed to sea life, why not develop this talent further?

Cornish Ambition: +1% Yearly Naval Tradition

If we're going to have a Pirates of Penzance reference in the 4th idea, might I suggest adding a quote to go along with it? Say the start of the Pirate King's song "Oh, better far to live and die/Under the brave black flag I fly" ? Modern references aren't unheard of in NIs - after all, we do have the Monty Python reference in the Spanish Inquisition!

Some of my ideas from the previous thread. Given how things have changed since then, some of the suggested idea bonuses may need to be changed a bit.

Lorraine

Traditions
(- Infantry cost - due to the iron ore available)
(+ Caravan Steering)

The Vosges
The great mountainous wilderness of the Vosges lies within our borders. This area is very difficult to traverse, making the defense of our nation a much simpler affair than for those nations less blessed by geography.
(+ Fort Defense)

The Mines of Lorraine
Our land is blessed with numerous deposits of coal and iron ore, making us a center of production of weapons and other metalwork.
(+ Production)

Legacy of Lotharingia

Our nation is the direct continuation of the Kingdom of Middle Francia, known as Lotharingia after its ruler Lothair, grandson of Charlemagne. His kingdom stretched from the North Sea to Italy, separating what would become France and Germany. With such a vast legacy, it is easy for us to find long-lost claims to territories we don't currently rule.
(+ Fabricate Claims)

Between Great Powers
Our nation lies on the very edge of the Holy Roman Empire, with a covetous France just to the west. The lands ruled by Burgundy hem us in to the north and the south, and they desire to unite their lands by annexing ours. In order to maintain our independence, we must be deft at diplomacy, lest one or the other take control of us, or we are ground between the millstones.
(+1 Diplomat)

Two Languages, One Land
We are a nation divided by language; many of our people speak French, while a large number speak German. In order to put up a unified front to the world, we must work together as one, despite our linguistic differences.
(- Accepted Culture Threshhold)

The Three Bishoprics
Scattered among our territories are the Three Bishoprics of Metz, Toul, and Verdun. The presence of these sanctified locations lends our nation a holy aura that surely must impress our citizens and those of other nations.
(+ Tolerance of True Faith)

Place Stanislas
The center of our capital should have a great monumental square in order to proclaim the greatness of Lorraine to the world. Let the Place Stanislas be built!
(+ Prestige)

Ambition
(+ Coring cost - I know everyone hates it, but Lorraine lasted a long time, despite being surrounded by so many enemies)

Württemberg

Traditions
(+1 Legitimacy)
(+ Trade Efficiency - being on the main trade routes between the Rhine and Danube)

Estates of Württemberg
We have decided to allow the notables of our realm to meet in a bicameral assembly known as the Estates of Württemberg. Although it will somewhat lessen the ruler's absolute power, it will conversely allow for the better governance of the realm.
(+1 Advisors)

The Swabian League
Although the Duchy of Swabia has long since passed into history, its name still remains a powerful force for unity in the region. The various principalities, free cities, ecclesiastical lands, and other petty states in the region have banded together in a league for mutual defense. As one of the greater states in Swabia, we are often called to lead this new league in times of war.
(+ Manpower)

Poor Conrad
The peasants have risen up in rebellion! But, shortly after, they were inevitably crushed. However, while the peasants' demands are easy to ignore, those of the petty nobility and of the burghers are not so easily dismissed. Perhaps we should expand the rights of the people a small amount in order to keep them happy and less prone to unpleasant rebellions.
(- National Unrest)

The Swabian Circle
The Emperor has divided the empire into various "Imperial Circles", which are to oversee matters of defense, taxation, and other administrative tasks. Our local circle is the Swabian Circle, sharing its name with the previous League in the area, but otherwise different in origin and form. Württemberg has been appointed one of the directors of the circle, which means during times of war, we are able to call upon and lead the troops of the region.
(+ Reinforce Speed)

Grosse Kirchenordnung
It is time to better organize the church in our state. With this "Grosse Kirchenordnung", we will not only make the church more efficient, but bind it closely to the state.
(+ Tolerance of the True Faith)

Ludwigsburg Palace
It is time for our nation to build a grand palace to exhibit the greatness of Württemberg to the world. Let the Ludwigburg Palace be built!
(+ Prestige)

Reichsdeputationshauptschluss
The hundreds of petty states which make up the Empire are a bureaucratic nightmare, as well as making the maps so untidy. The Emperor and the Imperial Diet are planning to do away with these tiny states, merging them into the larger states - like us, for example. Let us take advantage of this by claiming as much as we can!
(- Fabricate Claims)

Ambition
(+ Better Relations Over Time - by the end of the game period, Württemberg had good relations and royal marriages with just about everyone)

Icelandic Ideas, as suggested by @hansmartin , retrieved from here:

Traditions:
National Tax Modifier: +5.0% {iceland starts quite poor so in order to have a positive balance i added a 5% tax modifier}
Ship Costs: -10.0%

Ideas:
Colonists: +1 "Gunnbjörn Úlfsson" - "Gunnbjörn Úlfsson was a Norwegian settler in Iceland. He was reportedly the first European to sight Greenland." [wiki quote]

Light Ship Cost: -10.0% "Knarr" - "Knarr is the Old Norse term for a type of ship built for long sea voyages and used during the Viking expansion. The knarr was a cargo ship; the hull was wider, deeper and shorter than a longship, and could take more cargo and be operated by smaller crews." [wiki quote]
[+maybe an additional sailer bonus here]

Yearly Army Tradition Decay: -0.5% "Vikings" - "Legendary Viking Sagas will still be heard in thousand of years"

Naval force Limit Modifier: 30.0%
"Our Navy is our Lifeline - without ships no supply"
[+or maybe here an additional sailer bonus]

Prestige Decay: -1.0%
"Erik the Red" - "Erik Thorvaldsson is remembered in medieval and Icelandic saga sources as having founded the first Norse settlement in Greenland. The appellation "the Red" most likely refers to his hair color and the color of his beard. Leif Erikson, the famous Icelandic explorer, was Erik's son." [wiki quote]
{or maybe something about sagas}

Trade Efficiency: +10.0% "Stockfish" - "The commercial monopoly of Norway is finally gone and our rich fish resources gets great demand in Europe"

Yearly Navy Tradition: +1.00 "Icelander" - "The heaviest storm can't stop us from sailing"

Trade Steering: +20.0%

Also worth noting, both for @DDRJake and other fellows that in this old thread, that there is a massive list of NIs in this thread, all already coded. Tis' only a matter of Copy and Paste to instert those into the game

Word of warning, most of that collossal list already got ideas via pacthes since that was posted.

Man, that thread is a gold mine for modders.

I opt for having this thread pinned, so that we won't have any more "National Ideas thread", cause we've had at least four in the last few months. :)

We have (in terms of suggestions or compilations)?

But, even if it's not pinned, I'll do my best to keep it alive (this would also be a good incentive for me to come up with new NI's).

Totonac Ideas from the thread, sighly toned down. I sense a pattern of OP ideas somewhat, not every set needs coring cost and land morale y'know

Totonac Traditions: Stabilty Cost Modifier -20% , +2% Attrition for Enemies

Shark Hunters: +0,5 Yearly Army Tradition

Among the many foods we gather from the sea are vicious sharks, which are impaled with long spears by our brave hunters. How can we be afraid of humans if we stand against monsters of sea?

The Dance of the Flyers: -1 Global Unrest

This ritual was performed long ago to please Xipe Totec, god of maize, in a time of famine. It has become a strong part of our culture even though it may not be of our invention.

The Three Hearts:
+10% Provincial Trade Power

Three main cities are the focus of our culture and government, which are Cempoala, Tajin and Teayo. They are sophisticated cities supporting many thousands of our people.

Liquid Amber: -0.2 Army Attrition

The sweet sap of these trees, also known as Sweetgum, has long been used by our people for medicinal reasons and is desired by many of our neighbours.

Legacy of the Old Builders: -10% Development Cost

In our oral tradition, it is said that our ancestors helped to build Teotihuacan, city of the gods themselves. This connection to the past firmly establishes our great lineage.

Children of the Storm: War Exaustion Reduction Cost -20%

Those born under the protection of thunder and lightning have an auspicious future, many being very capable leaders or healers of men. We should pay careful attention to their exploits.

Repel the Aggressors: Discipline +2.5%, Infantry Cost -15%

For a long time, the nations around us and particularly, the Aztec Alliance, have attacked our lands, killed and enslaved our people, and now pale skinned men from across the sea wish to do the same. We will modernize our warrior's stance on the battlefield, so we can repel all foul invaders, old and new!

Totonac Ambitions: +1 Diplomatic Relations

Also, for archival, my Shirvan Ideas:

Shirvani Ideas

Traditions:
+50% Core Creation Cost on Us , +1 Yearly Legitmacy

Shirvanshah Architecture: -20% Build Cost

As the centuries passed, our land has developed a unique and marvelous type of architecture. It is time for us to not only to become patrons of architecture, but to build a beautiful palace that will stand the test of time!

Manuevering between the Khans: +1 Diplomatic Reputation

The hordes of nomads that swept through Persia and Mesopotamia crushed many rulers, and omly our cunning diplomacy kept Shirvan safe. Even the mighty Timur was reasoned and bargained with, and so will his sucessors who currently fight over his former realm like vultures. Let us ally those who would benefit us, and use these feuds of the nomads to our advantage!

Patrons of Culture: -10% Advisor Cost , +1 Possible Advisors

Our realm's tradition as a center of art and culture is hundreds of years old, and all sorts of innovators and thinkers flock to our King for patronage still. Let us increase our efforts and offer patronage for them, and make our centers of learning and culture flourish.

Yazidid Legacy: +1 Yearly Prestige

For generations our line has ruled fairly these lands. Few states can claim our longevity, or our glory. The Kings of Shivan have long been the guardians of culture and peace, and although we resemble very little the arab tribesmen who founded our line, we proundly know that our line is one of greatness.

City Fortifications: +25% Fort Defensiveness

Although we trust our diplomacy will keep Shirvan always on the winning side, it's better to be safe than sorry. Let us fortify the most important towns and cities in the realm, and make it so that any attacker that tries to take our rightful lands will meet his end!

Retain our Independence!
: +10% Morale of Armies

Our neighbours mistake our love of art for weakness, and the storm gathers. As threats to our independence continue to appear at every corner, we see ourselves forced to arms. Let these would be ''Kings of Kings'' meet the wrath of our righteous army!

State Reforms: Stability Cost Modifier -10%

Our state, dating centuries back, has not changed much in it's structure. As our envoys and travellers tell us, there are more efficient ways to rule than those we are accustumed to, as this new age dawns upon us. Let us reform, while keeping the flame of the Shirvanshah alive!

Ambition: +10% Provincial Trade Power

Ideas for Nitra:

Ideas:

Legacy of Great Moravia
+1 diplomatic reputation

Slovaks are proud of their heritage. Great Moravia was a kingdom which incorporated most of slavic peoples of the region, mantained a good relationship with Byzantium and withstood attacks even from powerful East Francia.

The Glagolitic Script
+1 yearly prestige

The Glagolithic script was the first slavic alphabet ever created in the 9th century by Saint Cyril, a Byzantine monk from Thessaloniki living in Nitra, who sought to make the Bible understandable to the general population. First considered heresy, it was eventually formally approved by Pope Adrian II. It was the basis of Cyrilic script.

Kremnica Mint
-0,10 Yearly Inflation Reduction
Established in 1328, the mint issued several kinds of coins early on, of which the most successful was its ducat. Kremnica ducats were well-known because of their good quality and were considered the hardest currency in Central Europe. For nearly seven centuries it has continuously been producing mint articles.

Castle garisons
-10% land maintenence

Nitra(Slovakia) has the most castles per capita in the world. Castle garrisons are prepared to defend their land at all costs!

Slovakized Czech
30% Better Relations Over Time

Language adopted by most of the Slovak Evangelical intelligence in 16. century, a new form of Biblical Czech reminded our people of the Slavic ethnicity and relations with other Slavic people.

Matej Bel
10% cheaper tech cost

Matej Bel, Slovak and Hungarian polymath, teacher and evangelic priest, created the first Encyclopedia covering the history, geography and economy of the Carpathian region and is considered one of the founding fathers of Enlightenment.

Rudohorie or Mining academy
+10% production efficiency

The mountains of central Nitra(Slovakia) are exceptionally rich with metals such as gold, silver and copper. First mining academy in the world was established in Banská Štiavnica in 1762.

Traditions:

+10% local trade power
+10% tax modifier

Well, if we're going to bring those NIs from the megathread...

Balinese Traditions: +10% Goods Produced; -20% Light Ship Cost
Balinese Ambitions: -15% Agressive Expansion Impact

Imported Javanese Culture - -5% Technology Cost
The old rule of Majapahit marked the strong influx of Javanese culture into Bali, most of all in architecture, dance and the theatre; in literature with the introduction of the Kawi script; in painting and sculpture; and the Wayang puppet theatre.

Aristocratic Refugees - +1 Yearly Prestige
With Islam rising and great kingdoms falling in the Indonesian archipelago, displaced Hindu nobilities flock to Bali to restore their ancient honour.

Staunch Hindus - +2 Tolerance of True Faith
Religious change engulfs the Malay world. Islam and Christianity represent a threat to our ancient Hindu culture, and efforts must be made to preserve it at any cost.

Conquerer Dalems - +15% Land Morale
Balinese monarchs, known as Dalems, have not shied away from ambitious conquests despite the relatively small size of their kingdoms. Dalem Baturenggong, for example, expanded his kingdom of Gelgel to the islands to the East and even made forays into Java.

Island Settlers - +1 Colonist
The surrounding islands, with the notable exception of Java, are weak and uncultured in comparison to Bali. It would be relatively easy to settle these islands and introduce good governance, right religion, and a Balinese nobility.

Hindu Reformation - +2 Missionary Strength
The half-hearted and disorganised approach to religion adopted by the failed nations that surround us has no place on Bali. Heeding the wise words of Dang Hyang Nirartha, the worship of Shiva shall take supreme dominance over all other forms of religious life. New temples shall be constructed and the priesthood reformed to create a renewed and modern Hindu faith.

Rivals to Slaves - +10% Manpower Recovery Speed
Why kill our enemies when they still have worth as slaves? Allowing our captured enemies to serve instead of die not only reflects the mercy of Bali's rulers, but also frees up new sources of manpower in the local population.

Bali Ideas

I noticed that more often than not those from that thread sets are completely OP

I mean, 2 Missonary Strenght, Free Colonist, -15% Agressive Expansion Impact , + ToTF, and 15 land morale.. i feel like people dont realize only top tier nations have ideas like this. Those bonuses are frankly absurd.

If you look more closely at the existing ideas, many doomed (Albania, Granada, Byzantium, Karaman, Provence, etc.) or obscure (Hormuz, Ryazan, Shawnee, Tarascan, Orissa, etc.) all have really good ideas while many regional powers (Naples, Korea, Genoa, Georgia, Bavaria, etc.) have mehish ideas. It only makes sense to reward you for doing well as a small nation by letting you enjoy playing as them.

Yes, but stuff like a bigger more buff than Élan, free colonist, agressive expansion... it's less of the ideas are OP per se, and more like the same strong ideas on all new sets. I mean, of the good obscure sets you mentioned, how many have 15 (!) Land Morale, AND Agressive Expansion Impact, AND coring cost, AND missionary strenght, AND +1 envoy... i think the people who make ideas often do too much metagame thinking. A lot sets seem suited to blobbing, which often doesnt go hand in hand with the spirit of the tag.

It's not as much ideas being good per se, but more the same strong blobbing related bonuses repeating themselves for every tag.
