I think everyone can agree one of the best parts of a new patch is seeing which nations get their own NI sets. And one of the most frequent topics in the suggestion forums are suggestions for said new NIs. Unfortunately, they can be difficult to find, and can fade away pretty quickly. Hence this thread.

As I recall there used to be a thread similar for this a while back, but since I can't seem to find it, I've created this; a new NI compilation thread, where I'll try to upload any suggested NI sets I see for nations that do not yet have them for convenience's sake. If there is an Idea Set of yours for a nation that does not have an unique NI set, or if I missed one of yours, please; feel free to post.

Edit: Also, please try to keep it restrained to only tags that are already in game or have been confirmed are being added.

At the request of @Trin Tragula, I’ve composed an index of this thread that I’ll do my best to keep updated. I’ve separated it into NIs for countries that already have them (which may or may not have been influenced by the ones in this thread) and ones that don’t, and then alphabetized them for ease of access. Author will be put in parenthesis.

This very belated update to the list was courtesy of @Aquamancer, who did the legwork in updating the thread to match the current situation of NIs ingame, as well as to make it more visually appealing.

This thread is more than 5 months old.

It is very likely that it does not need any further discussion and thus bumping it serves no purpose. If you feel it is necessary to make a new reply, you can still do so though.

Our organised raids into our neighbours land have been known for long, as we need to gain captives for our trade . The forces that are part of these raids could be of use in our army and could also help us get more money for the state as for each captive the Khan gain a fixed share of the profit.
Curiosity - was the period that 75% of the Crimean society was slaves. Good stuff would be a slave disaster for Crimea (or any events about this)

I finally got around to completing my Mainz ideas, now I just need to figure out how to tag @Trin Tragula ;)

I'm not a native speaker so the flavor text might need some tweaking, but I hope I can convey the general idea behind my suggestions and that they are reasonably balanced. In real life, Mainz managed to stay more or less independent for a surprisingly long time, which I tried to reflect by giving them decent defensive and diplomatic ideas, in return they don't really have much that adds pure military strength or helps them expand. A lot of these ideas are about the "old glory" of the city which was at its peak in the early middle ages, but this significance had diminished by the start of EU4s timeline.

Even though Mainz is an Archbishopric in the game I chose to stay away from additional religious modifiers, as the role of the archbishop became more and more political over the years and the majority of the city's religious importance had played out before the start of the EU4 timeline. I think Legatus Natus and Primas Germaniae plus the fact that they are a Theocracy are sufficient enough to reflect the religious aspects of this nation, so no extra Deus Vult and more powerful missionaries should be needed here.

Mainz National Ideas

Traditions

I. +10% National Tax Modifier

II. +1 Possible Advisors

Ideas

1. Reichserzkanzler OR lat. Archicancellarius per Germaniam / +1 Yearly Prestige

“Ever since the formation of the Holy Roman Empire, the Archbishops of Mainz have held the title of Archchancellor, making them the highest dignitary in the realm second to only the Emperor himself. Our most prestigious duty is to call and organize the Imperial Elections and to guide the other Prince-Electors in their search for a new Emperor.”

2. Center of Religious Learning / -5% or -10% Idea Cost

"As one of the great centers of religious learning and theology in all of Europe, Mainz is home to many of the brightest Christian and Jewish scholars. Guarding over them is St. Martin’s Cathedral, the episcopal see of our bishop, where Kings and Emperors are crowned.”

3. Free City Tradition / +10% Trade Efficiency

"Mainz might not be a free city anymore as it once was, but the independent spirit of our people and our skillful craftsmen and merchants are still command a great deal of respect among our neighbours."

4. Weck, Worscht & Woi / -1 National Unrest

"The best wine in all of Germany undoubtedly comes from the vineyards around our lovely Mainz and many traditions of our people revolve around this great export of ours. These local customs are an integral part of our culture that provide a sense of unity in tough times and they must never be forgotten."

5. Mainzer Landfriede / +25% Improve Relations

“The people of the realm deserve to live in peace and every man, noble and commoner alike, must abide to the laws imposed on them by God and the Emperor. The Mainzer Landfriede assures the rule of law over the rule of chaos in our lands and it is also the first royal document written down not just in Latin, but also in the language of the people.”

6. The Watch on the Rhine / +25% Fort Defense

"The German lands have been under threat by enemies from the West ever since the Holy Roman Empire has come into existence, with many foes looking to push us back behind the Rhine. As the strongest fortress on the west banks of the river we are the sword and the shield of the Empire and it is our holy duty to stand strong against all intruders!”

7. The Fifth Season / -10% Stability Cost Modifier

"Other less enlightened countries might prohibit criticism of the nobility by the common folk but this is not the case here in Mainz when the yearly Karneval rolls around. People are free to criticize social and political injustices under the shelter of cap and bells while wearing uniforms that imitate and caricature occupying armies of the past. Anyone who is not a fool at Karneval is foolish for the rest of the year!"

Ambition:

+10% Morale of Armies

Thanks for reading, any feedback is greatly appreciated of course!

Thanks for the quick reply! I fixed the @ in my original post, don't know if that sends a new notification or not but your tag should be sufficient anyway, don't wanna bother him further :).

I understand the concerns about Hostile Core Creation, that's why I included National Tax Modifier as an alternative right away. Is Hostile Core Creation cost something that they just don't want to use for NI's in general? I figured that cutting the bonus in half compared to the Berber/Caucasus nations would make it more reasonable. Or is it just too OP in a region where nobody else has it and where you aren't bordered by nations with superior starting conditions whose AI needs to be deterred, such as the Ottomans and Spain for the aforementioned nations?

You can delete my first draft of the Mainz ideas in the OP by the way, it's unfinished and outdated at this point.

You can delete my first draft of the Mainz ideas in the OP by the way, it's unfinished and outdated at this point.
Your posting pushed me to finally finish my last two ideas missing for my NI set for Mainz .
But first of all, I would like to point out that "Watch on the Rhine" is an anachronistic term. It was coined after the French wanted to make the Rhine (again) their border in 1840. The conception of such a Watch on the Rhine didn't exist at all during the game's covered time frame, and I have to say that I would not connect it to (Kur-)Mainz in particular.

The Mainzer Landfriede is also a bit odd, since it was declared more than two hundred years before the game starts, and was made actually obsolete by the Ewiger Landfriede in 1495.
Furthermore, connecting the archbishopric with the free city might be too far of a stretch (I think that in your last post, you also mentioned this).

In the end, the devs will have more ideas to choose from if there are two propositions.

And here are mine:
  1. Traditions: -1 national unrest, +1 possible advisor
  2. Birthplace of the Printing Press: +25% institution spread modier OR -5% technology
    cost
Gutenberg's invention, the printing press, has spread all over Europe since its invention
around 1450. It enabled duplicating books more easily leading to a better
exchange in science. With Mainz being the birthplace of the printing press and
located in the middle of Europe, we are in the best place to adopt new advancements!
  3. Archchancellor of the Holy Roman Empire: +1 diplo reputation, +1 diplo relations
As Archchancellor of Germany, the archbishop of Mainz is the primus inter pares
of the electoral college being able to call for an imperial election. As of recently
he is also the head of the Reichshofkanzlei in which all imperial documents and
correspondences are administered. It therefore isn't just a title like in the cases
of Cologne and Trier, but the importance and might of the Archchancellor in the
Holy Roman Empire is only surpassed by the emperor himself.
  4. Perpetual Privy Council: -0.05 monthly autonomy change, +0.2 yearly absolutism
The disjoint territory, we rule, has made it neccessary to create an enduring central
administration, the perpetual privy council. From now on, we will impose a more
rigid rule on our subjects and deprive the estates of their power as well as hindering
    them to convene at all.
  5. Saint Hildegard of Bingen: +0.5 yearly devotion
Undoubtedly, Hildegard of Bingen was a saint, and is revered as such in our region.
However, the canonisation was hindered by a turf battle between our previous
archbishops and the pope. But now Hildegard was nally added to the roman
martyrology which will foster the already ample reverence in our archbishopric
    even more.
  6. Weck, Worscht un Woi: +10% morale recovery speed (could add +10% land morale, but maybe mainz should just be good at playing the diplo game)
Weck, Worscht un Woi - bread, sausage and wine - is a favourite meal of our
subjects. Its simplicity makes it easily transportable, and therefore an optimal
food ration for our army. As we possess fertile lands, we can easily aord to supply
our troops with Weck, Worscht un Woi surely keeping their ghting morale up!
  7. Mainzer Fastnacht: -10% stability cost
For centuries it is tradition in Mainz to celebrate the eve before Ash Wednsday
with a celebration, the so called Mainzer Fastnacht. But since a few years, the
Mainzer Königreich was established at our court. Every courtier from the cook up
to the archbishop himself draws a lottery ticket randomly assigning a new role.
The archbishop can become the cupbearer, whereas the carpenter can become
the elector, so that during this guise the latter can criticise injustices without
    hindrance.
  8. Enlighted Reforms: -5% idea cost, +5% national tax modier
As an enlighted government, it is our prime duty to liberate our subjects from
unneccessary rules hindering an economic growth. From now on, we will reduce
the number of holidays to increase our productivity, introduce two new fairs to
foster trade, reform the school system as well as many other things. Furthermore,
we will expell all backwardly thinking from our country, namely mostly the Jesuits,
    ensuring a truly enlighted age!
  9. Ambition: +30% improve relations

Ack, sorry - been fighting off a cold and forgot to update it. Thanks for reminding me, and congrats on getting another one out!

That said, might want to remove the Recover Morale Speed and Tax Modifier - I don't think any NI set has more than three national ideas with two bonuses (and I'm too busy to check the wiki right now, but I think the only nation that does have three is Venice).

No problem, I just thought that a week later it might be good to remind you. Get well soon!
Every time I tell my self that its the last NI set I will write, but here am I with around 15
At the moment I plan to tackle Cleves and possibly some not yet implemented tags like Swabia.

Austria has even 4 NIs with two effects, but it was just that I couldn't decide. Maybe Mainz shouldn't have army morale at all and just the recovery speed (but in that case a bit higher).

I hope so, too. Now I feel motivated to write a few more actually, HRE needs more love.

I believe you and @Paland0 would make an excellent team in that regard.

, maybe.

I should maybe finish my set for Lüneburg and Kleve but I din't find any time recently .

A proposito, I think @bebrst 's NI set for Alsace (taken from here) is missing:

Traditions:

Domestic Trade Power: +10% (As the bridge between the Holy Roman Empire and France we are in a strong position to control trade)

Alsatian Wine: Production Efficiency +10% (Vineyards are covering our hills and our wine is a proudly cherished specialty)

Ideas:

1) Silberthal / Val d’Argent: +10% National Tax Modifier (The mines at the border to Lorraine guaranteed a steady source of income)

2) Zehnstädtebund / Décapole: +1 Diplomat (This alliance allows us to defend our privileges. Let us make good use of it)

3) Land of Castles: +20% Fort Defense (The Vosges and the Rhine Valley are protected by our great and many castles)

4) “Von Deutscher Baukunst”: -10% construction cost (Goethe was inspired by our cathedral to write this praise about architecture. Let us profit from this reputation)

5) The highest building of the known world: +1 yearly prestige (For over two centuries our cathedral was the highest building of the known world)
// or alternatively +1 yearly Papal Influence (close to heaven. We have the highest church tower in the Christian world)

6)
a) Confessio Tetrapolitana / Reformation in Strasbourg: +1 Tolerance of Heretics (Alsace was among the first provinces in the HRE to welcome the protestant faith)

b) Counter Reformation: +1 Missionary Strength (After early gains for the heretic faith, the Catholic build Jesuit monasteries to get back the lost souls)

c) Counter Reformation: +10% Moral of Armies (The Catholic faith won the conflict over the Strasbourg cathedral chapter against the protestant heretics after violent unrests)

7)
a) Straßburger Universität: -10% Idea Cost (Our university was a center of Humanism and attracted brilliant minds such as Goethe)

b) Gutenberg in Strasbourg: + 10% Institution Spread / -5% Technology Cost (Gutenberg spend many years working and researching in Strasbourg and left the legacy of the printing press)

Ambition:

+1 Max Promoted Cultures (We always benefitted from both, our German heritage as well as from the great French culture and ideas)

Thanks @Paland0 :)
The order of them might have to be changed slightly if historical coherence is of importance (e.g. Goethe after reformation, highest building also after the reformation) ;)

Hello, as far as Aq and Qara qoyunlu unique national ideas added, I digged some info for last remaining beyliks of Anatolia alive in 1444, Ramazan & Dulkadir.
https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/foru...ish-beyliks-in-1444-ramazan-dulkadir.1053080/

Greetings, I am back with some more idea suggestions. I have read some sources and wanted to share.
Sources:
1. Turkey Diyanet Foundation - Islam Encyclopedia
2. Anadolu Beylikleri ve Akkoyunlu, Karakoyunlu Devletleri by Ord. Prof. İsmail Hakkı Uzunçarşılı
3. Ramazanoğulları Beyliği by Prof. Yılmaz Kurt
4. Ramazanoğulları'nın Kanunisi Ramazanoğlu Piri Mehmed Paşa by Prof. Yılmaz Kurt
5. Adana'nın Türkleşmesi ve Ramazanoğulları by Prof. Yılmaz Kurt
6. The Establishment of Ramadan Principality by Fatma Akkuş Yiğit

Important things about Ramazan:
-Pîrî Mehmed Pasa I suppressed the riots of Safavid supporters. (Unrest)
-Ramazanoğulları established the first foundations on trade and pilgrimage roads. (Trade buffs)
-Mamluk wanted to keep Anatolia under control, they used The Ramazan emerged as an alternative to the Dulkadir. Ramazan and Dulkadir against the Mameluks gained the courage of their success, even rebelled against the Mamluks. As a matter of fact, the life of his son İbrahim Bey, who had been the head of his family since Ramazan Bey, passed on to rebel against the Mamluks. (They shouldn't be very loyal to Mamluks, probable buffs against Mamluks)
-Adana was center of cereals, cotton and sesame agriculture. (buff to trade goods modifier)

Important things about Dulkadir:
-As in all the Turkish states, Dulkadir owed his existence to his military power. At the time of the foundation of Beylik, Karaca Bey made a campaign on Armenians in Çukurova with a force of 5000 people. This number has increased over time, XV. It reached 30.000 in the end of the century. The French traveler Bertrandon de la Broquière writes that, if necessary, the subtle women also joined the war (Voyage d'outremère, pp. 82, 118). (Probably better manpower buffs, even women fight!)
-"Alâuddevle Bey Kanunnâmesi" documented that the Ottoman Timariot system was also applied in the Dulkadir Beylik, so the military organization was established according to this system. (timariot idea)
-Karaca Bey has been known since then for his successful conflicts with the Sis Armenians (better fighter against heretics)
-the laws of the last ruler Alâuddevle show that they want to develop with a essential organization.

I think these information can be combined with generic Anatolian ideas of Turkish nations.

Sadly there are not much left to find about these 2 countries, they nearly spent their whole life under Mamluks or Ottomans.

Suggestion from my side: Maybe we could add a list of countries both in 1444 and later start dates that still have generic national ideas so that people interested in writing new ideas can have a quick look at what is "missing".

If someone would be so kind as to come up with a list, I'll update the OP - Thursdays are usually packed for me, so I won't have time to myself today.

There's a console command that prints to game.log what countries use generic ideas "ideadump".
