The Flea is a great fit for this game. With there being no wasp, stinger, any 20 tonner helps. Shame it was released too late for this Dev cycle .

There's always post release!

How hard would it be to pack it up for BATTLETECH? I mean, really? What're the chances the modders who have both MWO and BATTLETECH could get it in?

The thing is, with engine locking it is extremely important to have different engine ratings in each weight. The ability to add jump jets at will coupled with the Flea's hardpoints means that we would be able to re-create both the Stinger and Wasp in performance (even if we didn't have unique graphics for them).
I must be getting slow in my old age. You are of course correct. I'll still name each such Mech "Wasp" or "Stinger" depending on loadout, but the operational parameters'll be close enough for me.

It's hard and requires 3D modelling software like 3DS Max, but it is doable.
So in other words, depending on how rabid the fanbase feels like being, it could be anything from "never" to "the entire TRO catalogue, PGI's lineup permitting, up to 3025 including Clan 'mechs and Unseen, are ready to go the day BATTLETECH launches."

I like those odds. I may get my Timber Wolf yet.

Bah! Another Wolf mech. Filthy clanners. Get me a Cataphract

Can't, Earthwerks have to building many more Fleas for the Dragoons to be able to afford the materials to manufacture the Cataphract....

... and with that, I'd give it a month at most. :D (I have no idea about the tools used and how difficult it is, but for sure the fanbase is both passionate and talented-)

HBS has said in a past Q&A that their 'pipeline' for translating a PGI model into a model with animations for their game takes a few weeks per chassis. And with their mech roster fairly finalized for launch, and they all scrambling to get the game launched by their deadline, incorporating a new model is probably not a priority.

But yush, post launch? GimmiGimmiGimmi!

As far as MWO goes, noted that the engine in the Flea can be upgraded to pretty much Locust speed, so expect it to largely be a reskinned Locust with different hardpoints. Will still buy the base pack, though, to support IS pre-civil war chassis.

IIRC, taking the models from PGI and adding all the necessary animations is a rather complex task. However, Ithink it would be somewhat easier nowadays, because so many of the “base” animations have be mapped out and matched with their maths.

Now, to bring in the Flea, the animations from the Locust could be used as a base, and adjusted to match the Flea model.

This raises my hopes that several other mechs with similar bodies could be brought in via DLC much faster than when the game was first being built.

OK, we get the Flea. Next - the Hornet, then the OST-series, followed by quads, then the Charger and Hamamoto-Chi, on to the Clint and Hermes (1 and 2),......

Out of curiosity. How would you people rate MWO out of 10? I have never played it, but would like to hear opinions.

I rate it at 4/10.
I primarily play games to experience the story. MWO has no campaign to beat. And rather than feeling like you’re piloting a 12 m death machine, it plays closer to Call of Duty and Battlefield.

While the mechlab allows more modifications than HBS BattleTech will, there are still hard points.

There are times when waiting for a match can take forever. And you will be bounced between the three servers constantly.

There are a lot of pay to win mechanics as well.

Overall, MWO is not what I am looking for in a mech game.

Pulling the pin on that particular grenade, are we? ;) I am only an infrequent player, but once I gave up on it actually being an multiplayer Mechwarrior experience, I find it fun for what it is. More of a 1st/3rd person giant stompy robot shooter. The upper tiers can be competitive, and critical (just check out the MWO forums for their opinions on anyone who doesn't use what they consider the optimal build, or use a chassis in a different role than they would), but as long as a player is content to remain in the lower tiers you can run around in your mixed loadout mech and have fun. So.. 5.5/10? Lower if you are ranking it against Mechwarrior, higher if you are rating it as a shooter.

If we're talking wish lists for what PGI makes next for MWO/MW5 (so we can get it down the line):

  1. Stinger & Wasp
  2. Valkyrie
  3. Dervish
  4. Crusader
  5. Clint, Hermes II, Vulcan & Whitworth
  6. Ostscout, Ostroc & Ostsol
  7. Longbow
  8. Falcon, Firefly, Hornet, Hoplite, Shogun, Imp & Marauder II
  9. Mercury, Thorn, Mongoose, Hermes, Hussar, Sentinal, Wyvern, Champion, Lancelot, Exterminator, Bombardier, Guillotine, Flashman, Thug & Crocket
  10. Chameleon & Merlin
  11. Striker, Emperor & Mackie
  12. Linesman (noncanon German early Daboku/Mauler)
  • Hatchetman & Charger (jumps to top of list when MWO/MW5 gets melee.)
If we talking wish lists period: Scorpion & Goliath. :skull:
