I hope this pack will concern the middle east, and I propose to list here all the nations that deserve better treatment:
- Ottomans : new mission tree (less silly than always more claims) + new disasters
- Mamluk : mission tree aimed at restoring the Caliphate and achieving historically unfulfilled ambitions of Caliphate (conquering all of France, for example)
- Rûm : specific mission tree (and not simply repeating that of the Ottomans)
- Trebizond : mission tree + events in order to restore Byzantium or usurp the Palaiologos if Byzantium survived
- Armenian Minor : mission tree to restore Greater Armenia
- Uzbeks : specific mission tree and events about the creation of the Bukhara Khanate, which historically gave a special place to science and culture
- Mazanderan, Shirvan, Gilan, Biapas, Shirvan : mission tree aimed at the restoration of Persia
- Ardabil : same thing, but with a bigger tree and specific events reflecting their IRL ascent
- Persia: mission tree to restore one of the great empires of old times
- Ormuz : mission tree + events centered on trade and relations with the Portuguese, as well as the Indian powers (specific gameplay to play tall)
- Arab Minors : mission tree to unify Arabia
- Arabia : mission tree aimed at restoring the Caliphate (partially or totally repeating that of the Mamluks)
- Qara Qoyunlu, Aq Qoyunlu and Baluchistan: to be discussed
I agree on most of the points, but I think Mamluk tree should be more interesting than restoring the Caliphate and conquering Occitania, it should be left for Andalusia and Arabia. I don't think the Mamluks were that much interested in actual expansion. I think their mission tree should focus on rivaling and outgrowing the Ottomans in strength, controlling the holy cities and on trade, especially on the latter by having in depth missions about denying the trade to Venice and Portugal (or any other colonial nation in that matter).
I agree about Rûm, they should have a mission tree focusing on restoring the borders of Seljuk Empire.
About Persia, you know what would be cool? If we got 3 different tags for it, or at least cosmetic names: Persia, Safavid Empire and Ērān for Zoroastrians. It would make it more replayable and would feel at least a bit different, when formed by different kind of powers.
Don't forget Oman, as well. They would probably share their mission tree with Ormuz, or at least have it very similar to it.
Also, devs stated that Nubia would be included in the ME update, as well. So the Nubian states will surely get a mission tree.
I hope the content for the Baltic isn't as obvious as expected, a lazy approach is to focus only on Scandinavia when it's possible to consider the following things :
- Secularization of the Livonian Order in the Duchy of Courland (former colonial power, yes)
- different path for the Teutonic Order, alternative to Prussian secularization (possibility of remaining Catholic and conversion of the Orthodox provinces ? Via a special link with the papacy ?). But difficult to link it to historical plausibility via unfulfilled ambitions IRL.
- overhaul of Lübeck and in particular the mechanisms of the factions
- Gotland as an alternative commercial power to Lübeck (reformation of the Hansa ?)
- Pomeranian mission tree aiming at the establishment of a sort of Baltic confederation
- content to be determined for the county of Holstein and Finland
- possibility of resurgence and spread of ancient Norse beliefs via a nation yet to be determined
Poland, Lithuania and Russia would also need some flavour touches, as well. Maybe even Germany.
About the Norse beliefs, I think the best candidate would be Norway and Iceland. The same could be done with the Baltic Romuva, Samogitia province could still follow it. Most of the local people still followed their ancient faith. It could be a decision for the player to remain Christian or become Romuva, the AI would always choose to remain Christian, of course, so no one could complain about ahistorical pagan Lithuania in 1444.
I also think they should add an Assyrian OPM in the ME with Nestorian religion. Imagine restoring the Assyrian Empire... That would be amazing.
