Edit: Again, there is no criticism implied in any of these posts. You have done a great job (both in quality and in the immensity of the task) and we all appreciate it :D

No worries, I didnt think you were criticising (sp?) :) ...questions/feedback is good, at the very least a simple innocuous question could reveal something that I may have overlooked/needs work on.

Much better than what Paradox put in there with the latest patch. Curious how you got the ideas for them. Also why would the second one have to cancel the other tech? I like my CAV and choppers, airborne units etc.. I appreciate what you did there in this update as well.

I'm not much of a close support doctrine guy so I will stay with your Vertical Envelopment.

I'm still watching the Franco German front too since you mentioned you were going to try a few new ideas.

Nearly forgot, I was reading Harry while watching time go by in 36 and choked on my coffee. I don't want to ruin it for anyone but you did add some surprises didn't you.

Just tried 2.1 for the first time. Looks better and better. Too bad Turtledove decided to leave Finland a part of Russia. I would have preferred a German puppet kingdom... :( Couldn't Finland be at least a puppet of Russia? We did have autonomy before WWI, you know. Oh, well... I guess I'm biased in this question. ;)

It seems that you have given Germany a few (Polish) provinces that Austria-Hungary had before WWI. If Turtledove decided that A-H gave them to Germany, I'll just have to live with it. It's a bit strange, though.

I noticed a few funny things with Russian officers (Denikin is also an Air General in Far East and an Admiral with a funny name has Koltchak's picture - not the one Koltchak has himself, though), but I'm not going to nag about such details. Not when you chose such good pictures for CSA leaders! ;) (Although I always thought Willy Knight would look more like a cowboy myself...)

Keep up the good work! I hope you take some of my earlier suggestions into account in the next version.

Since I will go the CAV path, your readme mentioned an exploit but I didn't quite understand what that would affect. In other words how do I not cheat?

Air artillery was envisioned by Liddel Hart as a possible replacement for motorised artillery, so it does have some basis in historical plausibility. I cant actually remember where I heard of Vertical envelopment combined with blitz tactics  ...but it is not something I just made up, there is some literature on the concept out there somewhere....lol.

One cancelling the other is a vanilla thing...to prevent exploits I suppose.

Re-the cav exploit. An example- You build air cav...you also have a un-upgraded cav unit somewhere...once the air cav tech has fired the regular cav will get the bonuses as well (being part of the same tech tree...if you look at the modifier stats page you will see it does not define the difference between cav types like it does subs and Nuclear subs for example)...hence your regular cav will now act like it has choppers...got it?

Got it, that makes sense now. Having fun and being surprised.

I agree, Willy Knight should look like a blonde well dressed cowboy that Jake dislikes immediately and was jealous of his looks. Blood and Iron.

See we have to knitpick small things, it's a compliment. :D

Thanks for the info...The latest book gave the definate implication that Finland was under direct russian control...this may change in game however)

I have no specific info on how the land was distributed after WW1...anything in the mod probably has a bit of guessing attached to it.

Thanks for the info on the Russian leaders, I'll look into this if you believe it is incorrect.

Re- Willy Knight...he is supposed to be an alternate Ernst Rohm...seeing as I didnt have any real idea as to what Knight looked like, I figured Rohms image would be a sensible substitute. :)

Thanks for all your info, I do try and take all opinions into account...I did consider your comments on the baltic states but I was trying to aviod putting a majority of the nations in a bloc, so to speak...I think its good that some are more or less completely independent...it certainly allows for more variety...something I think HOI2 can lack sometimes (as opposed to vicky)

Thanks again for the help on the installation of the mod. With it being so hot out I have been playing alot. I havent been able to read through the rest of the forum but one thing that I remember from the book that I noticed wasnt in the game was the Panama Canal. In the books it was never created as all the navies have to travel around the horn and it was mentioned how a war would start if CSA tried to make a canal. Panama is probably also not an independent country because it was part of Columbia until the US assisted in its independence to get a friendly government in charge of the area where they looked to build a canal. Again thanks for all the help and i figure with the update, ill be up late again playing it.

You are correct about the panama/columbia thing...I'll try to remember to change it for a future update.

There were something like a hundred revolts (which all failed of course) in Panama prior to Teddy Roosevelt making a revolt stick.

Hmmn. Look at whatever controls the Bosporus and Dardanelles. Turkey only allows passage to countries allied with it. if you could replicate that for panama, then set it so that the chance for panama to join an alliance is zero . . .. Then maybe set its sea and land fortification to 999 and give it a couple of good defensive units . . .

Hi
i've done some models for the ottoman empire because i have the feeling that is the only thing that miss from your mod (well, from ottomans, and from rusia, austro hungarian....) Great mod, two very minor nitpicks. It seems a bit light on US Civil War events, I'd recommend putting in an event for the US reaching Atlanta, or Miami, etc. Also, Patton was from Hamilton, Massachusetts, about 15 miles from where I live. No way he'd fight for the south.

But he's from a Virginia family with ansestors who fought in the Civil War for the Confederacy... no way h would have been born in Hamilton MA in the Great war books conology.

Very true...and more to the point, he is in the novels, so he kinda has to be in the game!

Just to forewarn everybody, I will be on holiday for about 12 days starting the coming Sunday so I wont be able to offer support for the mod until I return...

Im comin to the sunny south of the CSA for a week (florida) and then off to see the damnyankees in NYC for a few days.

Anyone know of any good history/civil war related things I could do in said states?

Whereabouts in Florida? There was the battle of Ocean Pond near Jacksonville. Most Civil War stuff happened north of there and south of NYC unfortunately :)
