Ive gone through them cleaned out all Nazi names as best i could. But figure it would better if you found someone who spoke german to give it once more scrub down. id send it through PM's but they say it is too big and also figure the community could help. Also they mention in the books that the British still call them tanks while the americans call them barrels. Wondering if it would be better to leave the name Panzer (german for tank) or use Faß (german for barrel) instead.
As for the American/Confederate names i just went through and did research on them as they came up or through pass experence. Being both in the US Army and from Florida it makes it a little easier hehe.
I know I'm not involved with this project, but I would suggest that at least the first few tank divisions are named after prestigeous cavalry divisions. Historically, the French and British did this, as they weren't building from scratch. eg 'Garde-Kavallerie-Schuetzen Division', which used tanks in 1919 to kill communists. After that, seeing as 'Panzer Division' is an 'armoured division', its probably best to stick with that, especially as they came up with it independantly.
GER;CA;KMS Beowulf should probably be changed as Beowulf is an 'anglo' saxon hero- good for a fascist Britain, but not for a conservative Germany.
Quite a few of the ships named after places are named after places in Austria. They could still be useable though.
GER;Cav;22. Kaiser-Kav.Div. 'Maria Theresia'- Maria Theresia was an Austrian. Again, still useable, as foreign royalty were honoured in similar ways.
Instea of using 'kaiser' as a replacement for SS, why not 'Garde-'. A victorious Germany would prresumbaly keep its historical, 'noble', elite troops.
'Generalgouvernment' should go, as this was the nazi polish administration, a kaiser would porbably just cal it 'Polen'. 'Reichsfuehrer' was the rank of the head of the SS, so probably should also go.
Unless the chap's started putting boy scouts into tanks, GER;Arm;12. Panzer-Div. 'Friedrichjugend' should probably be changed. ('Hitlerjugend' was the nazi youth movement. 'Jugend' means 'youth').
'Horst Wessel' was a nazi brownshirt who wrote a famous song and died. Imperial Germany would not name a division after a factory worker.
'Kurland' also ought to go, as its not in germany. Same with any unit named after Norway, Holland etc as they aren't as race conscious. maybe some Askari units (colonial German troops)
'wallenstein' would also make a good Austrain, not German, name.
Imperial germany would be unlikely to name warships after mere aircraft manufacturers.
herman Goering was a distiguished fighter ace in WWI. He should get an air unit after him, not a ship and division.
I can suggest three replacement names for ships/divisions; 'Tannenburg,' 'Verdun' (they won it in this timeline) and 'La Belle Alliance' (the battle of Waterloo for us non Germans). Perhaps 'Von Lettow-Vorbeck'?
feel free to ignore me, I'm just an outsider.
