Finally getting back to this mod

Being the weirdo I am, I refused to continue downloading this mod's updates until I had finished the last book (spoilers and all). All the work I had this semester made that a longer period than it should have been.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to exploring the new additions. Have you made an event for Japan's ultimatum to Russia (Siberia or else)? Seems like that could make for another MAJOR war regardless of who wins the first one. Texas' independence could definitely be an interesting event chain, and we're left wondering about what the US does to Mexico.

I would imagine mexico gets status quo ante bellum, or loses the california penninsula (although nothing is mentioned of that)...hell, they probably bailed out early and HT never bothered to finish it up properly.

I thought I would add a long overdue update on what Im up to regarding the mod at the mo.

Its taking a lot longer than I imagined (or wanted- believe me!) but real life has been intruding big time.

But I digress...I thought you would all like to know that at the moment Im working on some music to be included in the mod- thats right- music!

Not my own compositions or anything, Ive just been searching that musical highway for some tunes that would help spice up the vanilla soundtrack. Ive also managed to add in a couple of tunes with a good confederate feel to them, as well as some others that fit well with other states. If it works it should rock.

I wanted to do a new load screen but inspiration on that front has been lacking- I may abandon this, unless anyone with some mad photoshop skills wants to have a stab???

Similarly, everything is pretty much done for the mod in terms of what is in the books but I wanted to add the often mentioned post war flavour events- but again, inspiration has been lacking...debating whether to abandon this too??

Other than that, its pretty much ready, should probably try some play testing too...

Any musical suggestions?- permission to speak is granted :D ...obviously it has to be in keeping with the timeframe and it doesnt have to be CSA specific either...was thinking of adding 'Jerusalem' for a good ol English theme for example...anyone know Imperial Germany's national anthem?

I had a small event or thought for the mod...what about having the US fund the Panama Canal in say 1948 and this leads to a war with say Columbia, which spreads to include the UK, but not Germany or something like that...this would give the US a chance to grab off the remaining UK possession in the Carribean and could tie into events in Cuba or having Mexico try to take back the former CSA provinces they sold to them etc...

Just some ideas for the post war world...or maybe a Central American Empire..err...wrong time frame...:D

Das Deutschlandlied was considered the de facto national anthem of the Prussian Empire. However, it was not adopted as the official hymn till the Weimar Republic in 1922 due to official censorship. It was widely believed the national anthem might actually cause revolutions much like those in France.

I prefer the national anthem of the Austrian Republic, for very same reasons in the Austro-Hungarian Empire they didn't adopt a national anthem. National anthems were a bit taboo to absolutionist regimes, which is why the British national anthem is so dry and boring and Rule Britannia, another one you should include, is so nice to listen to.

You should add Beethoven's "Heroic", which was actually "Napoleon Heroic" till he scratched out "Napoleon" when Bonaparte created the Empire and to Beethoven had betrayed the revolution.

Well, if Prussian domination continues, I think these two would be appropriate along with Deutschlandlied:

http://youtube.com/watch?v=gBcDp1N9zWw (This is Preußenlied)
(ignore the video, just listen)

http://youtube.com/watch?v=IjJa3_dR5Ac (This is Heil dir im Siegerkranz)

Of course, you need Dixie, possibly "I'm a Good Ole' Rebel", God Save the King, the US National Anthem, Hail to the Chief, ect..

Definitely add events for another war.

The Panama Canal thing is a good idea. With the Confederacy gone, the US would definitely have a renewed interest in the idea. Of course I'm not sure if you can change a province from "impassable" to "passable" by event. A similar event chain could be made for the CSA if it has won the war.

A Russo-Japanese war: Siberia or else! Other great powers would undoubtedly be drawn into this.

An event chain involving some nation (Japan, Russia, Austria-Hungary?) attempting to develop nukes in defiance of international law.

In the event of CSA victory, an overconfident Jake Featherston gets drawn into a war with his old European Allies. It is always mentioned that the Confederacy is a Junior, or Black Sheep of the Entente. It's time to show them otherwise.

Maybe it could be the Confederacy choosing a side in the archaic Imperial rivalries between France and Britain? I'd bet they'd choose the stronger. Though it would be a strange turn of events, it would most probably be France.

By the way, I never really read the books. I don't think, since I'd find a Confederate lose in the end distasteful authorship anyways, it wouldn't spoil the end if I knew whether the USA won over the South or not. I'm still sorta playing through the mod entirely.

EDIT: Has anyone else had a problem with the British Invasion AIs not working?

Why not in 46 or so have an event for a Germany/US War, a US/Japan/Germany free for all for a UK and US/Japan or a UK and US/Germany War

What? Why in God's name should the USA team up with Britain against Germany?

Not only do the USA and Germany have other concerns, for example occupying the CSA and France, Britain also is anything but popular in the USA, and probably will become even less popular once it becomes clear that the british government knew about the Black Holocaust (Lord Halifax was quite clear when he talked to Featherston that Churchill and Mosley knew about it.)

Anyway, for post- war conflicts, the Japan- Russian war is a must.
Or how about a second Russian civil war?

Also, an Indian civil war could be a possibility, with Japan and Britain or Germany backing different sides.
And finally, a maybe a Japano- Australian war, for the control of Indonesia.

If there is a Second civil war in Russia, who would lead the bolsheviks?

I mean, in in this timeline, both Stalin (The man of steel) and Molotov (The great man, but I think this pseudonym would be better for Lenin himself, anyway) were both killed at the battle of Tsarystin (Stalingrad in our timeline).

And I don't see a 60 years old Lenin or Trotsky(In the case that they survived in HT's timeline) leading a Revolution, at least, not in the front...

Maybe it musn't need to be a vs communist civil war, I mean, some liberals could rise against the monarchy, or even a conflict between the Tsar and the Orthodox Church (let's remember that some powerhungy patriarchs wanted to replace the Tsar as "Autocrat of All the Russias")

There are issues with this, the closeness of the Irish and norwegian invaisions is more than the Ai can cope with it seems. Steps have been taken to get around this problem for the next version of the mod. Will it work? God knows...

Beria or Khrushchev could be likely contenders, perhaps Brezhnev too. Beria in particular was as big a nut-job as Stalin I think...

Molotov actually means Hammer, which is a rather more appropriate surname for a red revolutionary than "the Great Man."

An event chain for Texas may also be a good idea, consisting of two parts:

Secession from the CSA: Do the Confederates let them go peacefully? Does the United States recognize the new government (historical), or does a three way war begin in the region?

Treatment by the USA: With the war won and a certain amount of time gone by (say, 6 months), what should happen to Texas? A free and independent state? A puppet regime? A back-stab and new war for full annexation?

Oooh good ideas. Can't wait to play the new version (whenever it comes out.)

I agree, a second Russian Civil War sounds good. It doesen't have to be communist (although it would be neat.) Plenty of liberal reformers (yet not so radical as the commies) would have plenty of time to form some sort of following. In this timeline is the Duma active? I'd assume so. The only way to keep the masses appeased, i'd think.

The ideas for Texas also seem neat.

To be honest, I cant even see Jake Featherston being stupid enough to DOW Texas if the CSA is in so much shit that the Texans are willing to secede.

And even if he did, at that stage what is he going to re-annex Texas with!?
