Since there is an AI enhancement 13.b, would there be any conflict arise if i use both SMEP and 13.b? if not, which order shall i install them? HOI2 > 1.3 > 1.3a > 1.3b > SMEP??

No conflict should arise as the new 1.3b only does AI changes, and SMEP doesn`t alter any AI files. The install order you pointed out should be correct. (though I myself just go for the full 1.3a patch first, instead of using the 1.3 and then patching it with 1.3a)

EDIT: Strike that notion. I just re-installed HoI2 and applied 1.3a and then 1.3b. Tried a game and no problems. I then installed SMEP; and got the following messages:

"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35660 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35661 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35662 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35663 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35664 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35665 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35666 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35667 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35668 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35560 ) already used!"
"Database Mismatch (type = 7 /id 35561 ) already used!"

I chose ignored and the game did start properly. Looking at what events actually use these ID`s, I notice they seem to be the AI-files (which was a deal about 1.3b). I take this is because SMEP includes some of these for some reason, which are the old ones, and then that causes some mismatch with the new ones. Which sort of begs the question of why these AI files are packed along when they aren`t supposed to be modded (correct?). The fix should be easy; either don`t copy over the AI files from SMEP or wait for atruejedi to update it (can`t blame him since the AI update come shortly after he released his update). Even though I could start the game; chances are the AI could act haywire in the cases of these mismatch (and by virtue of the "chaos-theory", the game starts to bugger up and finally exploding your computer :D )

As a side notion; I think atruejedi is getting sloppy in his version-numbering :D. And the Generic Mod Enabler is god`s gift to mankind (just tried it out...)

Is there also any reason why the events are muchly put in random event file as well? The Russian Civil War events for instance are put in the siam.txt file, which makes no sense as they should probably be in either hoi2.txt or ussr.txt; or more preferably a smep.txt file. Trying to make events that are compatible with SMEP could prove to be a nightmare when you put events here and there rather randomly...

Yes, I am sloppy, but who cares? I make the mod, and it all makes sense to me :)

New version is up, compatible with 1.3b. Might need a few tweaks (particularly dealing with the invasion of Yugoslavia, but honestly I don't know if it will). Haven't had time to test it alot (considering it just came out), but there are no errors when you load it up. So, play it! Deleted all those friggin' AI minister events, that was the only real "overhaul" I had to make. :)

Good gaming! ;)

Well, regarding the version numbering its a case of making it less confusing for whomever tries to download it, or thinks he has the latest version when he actually doesn`t.

For putting events into the "wrong" files its a matter of making it confusing for other trying to make SMEP-compatible events, or rather more specifically the Consolidated China Improvement Packwhich I hope will make a SMEP-compatible version (at least the changelog "to be done" says so...). So its a matter of who gets the headaches here; either the original creator of it, me (I kinda mentioned I could "easily" do it, but I kinda dropped the ball when I saw how complex it could be, and the mod wasn`t done either) or you (pretty please ;))

Is there also any reason why you included tech-team portraits of von Falkenhausen and that american advisor whose name escapes me? It`s conflicting with GIP...(I`m using the mod-swap utility as well) Easy to fix of course for my part, just wondering why its there and not in sexxxileaders or something, seeing as they have tech-team portraits allready.

Excellent; thank you. Appreciate the fast release (only got 5 more days until I head off to my 12 months of army-service aka hoi2-detox)

Are they really neccessary to remove? Aren`t they the ones responsible for picking which ministers to use based on various criteria, and removing them alltogether *could* lead to the AI loosing alot of potential? (since the ministers hold alot of power...)

I communicate regularly with Duke of Boom, so things should be fine :)

Yes. Stilwell is a Chinese tech-team in SMEP (not in vanilla), so I had to include a picture. I just included Falkenhausen because it's lightyears better ;)

Yes, it could. But I prefer not to see Paternal Autocrats and LWR in the United States cabinet. It also eats alot of PC power, as dozens and dozens of these events fire every day. Consider me removing them a favor! :D

Noticed a few things I have to fix for Yugoslavia. Germany is declaring war in winter once again... which totally bogs them down. Bulgaria declared a separate war on Yugo, which was weird... will fix that too. And the Winter War didn't end until July  , so Germany never declared war!

[EDIT]Re-uploaded at 6:16 PM EST on January 4, 2005. Attempted to fix the above, no time to test it, must go announce at a basketball game.[/EDIT]

Yeah, Bram here, long time player, first time poster. Anywho, I was playing your neat little alternate history campaign [I.E. letting Austria join the alliance], and the first time around it worked fine, however, every proceding game I played like that didn't work properly. Hungary never getting Transylvania, Romania never actually being remade, peices of France were occupied by Austria when the Vichy event kicked in, so France had land in, well, France. Also, Albania is somewhat of a first come, first serve country, as they end up joining the Allies. However, most of the time Germany kills them through Hungary, which is a collossal waste of time, because Hungary doesn't need a port city. Perhaps an event freeing Albania, or giving it to Italy if they're in the Axis? Also, I'd love to see this history taken farther, after the Balkans are sorted out, it pretty much plays regularly.

Glad you enjoyed it the first time through. Not sure what to say about why it worked differently the second time. Vichy won't fire unless Italy is defeated... by then Germany will hopefully have invaded Belgium. Either way, once Britain is defeated, everything will be fixed! And yes, I'll look into Albania. Thanks. :)

Also, re-uploaded 4.0 again with fixes. Effected the Balkans mostly. Enjoy!

Just a quick question, if its all right ...

I played a new game as Japan ... beat China into submission ... Invaded the USA, pushed as far east as Missouri before being stopped and forced to hold the line ... But no event ever fired for the USA surrender ... I assume that I didn't have all the required provinces (Had all island, but ignored alaska) but here is where my question comes in ....

What event file is it in? I was checking them all and couldn't find it ... Sorry if I'm being too much of an idiot this late at night

Only the Pacific and west coast are important. Also, the conditions must be met before the "surprise attack" event wears off. It is event 15 in hoi2.txt :)

How exactly is Bitter Peace supposed to fire in this mod? I got the bitter peace as Germany (allied w/ Japan), it first says "negotiations", then Ussr surrenders (Ussr chooses "we surrender" and I choose "accept"), but then nothing happens, just peace w/ Ussr and I get military access (and -50 dissent, etc). I remember in vanilla you get the provinces immediately. Is there supposed to be an event that triggers in a latter date(I played for about 15 more days but nothing else happens)? Btw, I am using the Jan 3rd release w/ 1.3a.

Are you saying it takes more time after the surrender for the provinces to be ceded? Or that it takes some time after the negotiations for USSR to surrender? In my case USSR have already surrendered and I accepted, but the provinces have not been ceded. You are saying it takes a little more time for the provinces to be ceded after the surrender, right? Just making sure. Btw, great mod and the quickest updates too, most mods update quite long after patches.

Gosh. If you just played for another 10 game-days, you'd understand.

1. Stalin sues for peace
2. Germany accepts and peace is established
3. USSR has Negotiations
4. 10 days later, the USSR turns land over to the Third Reich

 ;)

Firstly a big thumbs up for SMEP - it certainly improves the vanilla experience :)

Odd thing though - playing as Soviets on normal/normal (with 1.3a) I got the "Germany Surrenders" event and took "unconditional surrender" & nothing happened? Several months later I annexed Germany and now 2 months later (January 45) nothing else has happended? Just a huge Red Blob across Europe?

I did have Bulgaria & Romania change sides (though Bulgaria refuses to join the alliance) & I 'liberated' Greece - also 'Hitler Suicides' happened before the surrender. Something seems broken here or is it just me?

This was the previous 4.0 from December.

Which option did you choose? You have the option of splitting Germany with the Allies OR "painting the town red," aka just conquering everything.

Hitler killing himself is supposed to happen when Berlin falls. So, no bug there.

Same thing happened to me, "Germany offers Terms" fired after my troops were well past Berlin and I went with "Accept unconditional surrender", but never in the nearly 6 months it took me to mop up the rest of Germany anything else happened.

Found the problem, sorry guys. Fixed, reuploaded. Also fixed a ton of Balkan crap. It bothered me that Germany instantly moved towards Yugoslavia, even though there was no war with Greece or Yugoslavia, so I did a ton of tweaking. Germany and the rest of the Axis still sucks invading both of them, but nothing I can do. Usually Barbarossa gets delayed. If you're Axis, help out! ;)
