No. Pointless.

And of course, Schuermann. As with any new SMEP version, just install it over your previous version! :) And savegames are always compatible too. ;)

I would do this with generic partisan revolts. They require no supplies and can't get too messy and are easy to code. The question is, how many partisan "divisions?" Each is represented as a militia unit and they are pretty easily defeated. Lots can be created (I just tested), but I'd like some input. As of right now I'd say... three. Maybe five? But I haven't done any combat testing of militia divisions in Warsaw fighting Germans.

I was testing a small event I wrote yesterday. I sent 4 mil divisions against 2 German inft divs. in Warsaw and they got crushed in 2 hours. My guess is that they should be like 10 to be a serious threat.

I dislike the idea of USSR or England having events to "support" it, though.

No problem with this. I just thought that if succesful, the Soviet player would need to re take the city from the Poles by force, even when they fought against the same enemy, and it wouldn't make much sense.

the soviets told the poles to revolt
so have an event to have stalin choose wether its worth it

This may be out of topic, but Stalin ordered all his troops to STOP the advance and wait for the rebellion to get crushed before attacking the city. Churchill asked him for permission to use the Russian air bases to send bombers to Warsaw and drop supplies to the Poles but he refused. After Warsaw fell, and the Russians took it, he even ordered many of the Poles that had taken part in the revolt to be shot.

I hope that clarifies a bit more the 'liberation' of Poland.

Another suggestion here regarding Scandinavia, to make things more interesting.

I am thinking:

-If Sweden does NOT exist, and Scandinavia does, they should be given the Swedish events regarding support/intervention in the winter war.

-If Finland does NOT exist, and Scandinavia is axes, they should be given the "greater finland" event.

How about it?

Also, what would be nice, would be to gain some of the finnish leaders, ministers, tech teams if they are part of Scandinavia... Maybe a big "wake leader" event..

Pointless. Too much work for too little gain.

This is not a high priority, considering Croatia is a German puppet created in 1941 with 7 IC. But if someone submits teams, I'd gladly include them. I'm not wasting my time researching, though.

Well, I forgot to mention that this assumes that Scandinavia has the Finnish cores and Finland is part of Scandinavia. If Scandinavia sides with Germany in this war and help defeat the Soviet Union, I see no reason why Scandinavia shouldn't be rewarded for their sacrifises in the war like Finland would.

So some trigger conditions:

-Finland does not exist
-The "greater scandinavia" event has occured
-Maybe some checks to see if certain key Finnish provinces are in scandinavian hands in order to prevent weird situations.

How goes your SMEP-ing?

Lol, cool!

Anyway, have been SMEPing a new scenario, began with the swedes and creating scandinavia (i think i told you this before), then played with da germans... everything went fine, italy + japan in the axis, then japan declared war upon the USA (the killed the chinese before, therefore getting the whole of china). No comes the fun part - they hold on to the provinces in manchuria (by that time i already was at war with the soviets, and so was japan), and the americans kicked the japanese fleet's butt. somehow there was a fun event, that killed the japanese and the usa puppeted them. so far so good, north and south korea were created. soon one of your events fired, and boom, the US was at war with the soviets and the axis as well - so total annihilation!

one problem remains though - russia is getting it's butt kicked, having only some province east of the urals left (lets say about 50, nothing spectacular), is there still something like bitter peace for them? japan controls the whole east of russia, and partly up to lets say about 3-4 provinces near stalingrad. Remember, they're not in the axis anymore, but in the allies - is there still an event for the Soviets to get to peace talks? i want russia up to the urals and the baku oildfields, the japanese may have the rest of it...

Oh my! Glad to know, never had this happen in my games. Infact, I've never seen Japan surrender. Then I changed it so they give up relatively easily if at war with US and USSR... as what happened IRL.

Oh my. I seriously have no clue what is going to happen... but yeah, I'd say Bitter Peace will fire. No guarantees, though! ;)

I was as confused and shocked as you were... i never saw japan surrendering in any game before (well, maybe because of lack of fun ^^) - once the americans invaded the home isle, but nothing more - also cool to see that after this japan bitter peace event the USA holds on to almost al nothern pacific islands, really everything... that is quite cool!

One thing that makes me feel strange is that the US cannot liberate China. i am so sure that they would want a free chinese government, or the American hegemony (is this word right in this context? ^^) would be threatened by a japan that has all the resources it could possibly harness.

It looks cool though, i'll post a few pics for you!

Europe:

http://img425.imageshack.us/img425/3448/europa8zv.jpg

I am sorry, but the balkans are a mess - i let the british go through, because i want those minor axis factions gone :p (Romania has vital oil reserves). Turkey is at war with the Axis, because i wanted that they kick the censored italians out of baku, and the iranian oil province, and the stupid italians won't give me long lasting trade deals for oil, so i have to stop all my progressions in russia for months to get on going again... :( *meh*

Imperial Democratic (LOL) Japan and south korea (north korea was annexed, due to the lack of soviet forces that i crushed before)
The soviets were very weak in this game. they only build about 260 infantry divisions, in any game before the build well over 400. it was not hard to beat them as germany.

Well, I wouldn't call the battle for the pacific "easy"! ;) And of course, that nuke had something to say. If Japan has most of their forces intact, I don't think they should surrender just like that.

This game REALLY needs some nuke triggers, like "province XXX nuked = true"

What about my brilliant Scandinavia argument? ;)

Yes, I agree, it does need a nuke trigger. But since there isn't one, the Japanese surrender will trigger "easily" if Japan is at war with the US and USSR and loses Manchuria/Korea.

Historically Japan surrendered right after USSR declared war and began the invasion, because they knew they couldn't continue the war without resources from those regions.

Frankly, I don't think the a-bombs had a big effect... other than to tell Stalin to back off.

What about my brilliant Scandinavia argument? ;)

I don't see it happening. Sure, Finns live between Scandinavia and European Russia... but I don't know what I'd call this area. And I wouldn't call Finns Scandinavians... or at least if they are, they're different from Swedes/Norwegians/Danes. It's that crazy language related to the Magyar language ;)

So. While I find it fine for Scandinavia to join the Winter War, I don't see them owning Finland after the Bitter Peace... if they're in the Axis, that is. Hitler wouldn't like a too strong a northern ally.

just messed around a bit, and i found out that after ww2 is over (started in a 1944 campaign), after france is reinstated, that it's capital is still in guadalope. don't know if you start in 1936 there is not this bug, but since all the countries were set up by your triggers and events i think, the capital should be moved to Paris again.

another interesting thing happened - germany invaded sweden before (they already got norway, and after the surrender event scandinavia was created! way cool, if you ask me - but they're still national socialist, is this the way you intended them to be?

just messed around a bit, and i found out that after ww2 is over (started in a 1944 campaign), after france is reinstated, that it's capital is still in guadalope. don't know if you start in 1936 there is not this bug, but since all the countries were set up by your triggers and events i think, the capital should be moved to Paris again.

another interesting thing happened - germany invaded sweden before (they already got norway, and after the surrender event scandinavia was created! way cool, if you ask me - but they're still national socialist, is this the way you intended them to be?

Could you explain this further? Scandinavia was created by Germany AFTER Germany was defeated???

Upgrade SMEP question

I am using a version of SMEP from about a month ago. To upgrade to 3.5D, do I need to remove any of the old files or directories, or just download and "let 'er rip?"

TIA

I don't see it happening. Sure, Finns live between Scandinavia and European Russia... but I don't know what I'd call this area. And I wouldn't call Finns Scandinavians... or at least if they are, they're different from Swedes/Norwegians/Danes. It's that crazy language related to the Magyar language ;)

So. While I find it fine for Scandinavia to join the Winter War, I don't see them owning Finland after the Bitter Peace... if they're in the Axis, that is. Hitler wouldn't like a too strong a northern ally.
because of the years of sweedish many fins are accualy sweeds
mabey if hitler isn't in power make it happen

i remember once that someone told himmler to lead a coup against hitler
mabey add that

Very nice job however one thing;

the higher IC given when transfering industry's (russia) is to show the global war mobilisation in USSR. Russia produced more then germany overall, so i think it is only fair to leave the IC bonus. China however, should not get the extra IC.
