EU3's was worse, granted. But it's much easier to read borders in political mode in the old games too. And it looked so much better.:)

I actually preferred EU3 political map mode to the EU4, at least the Divine Wind one. The EU4 feels just weird, like if it was made of Play-Doh.

I really like terrain mode I just wish the borders was a bit more defined. Civ V borders are perfect. Although I haven't yet had a chance to pay with EU IV map so maybe it will be to my taste when in game.

Yep, I've always been surprised at how flat-coloured and fluorescent the political map looked in screens... it'd be cool if it was layered on top of the terrain map or something... anything to give it texture, and not make it look like different bars of soap welded together.

I mostly pay in terrain.

HA! See I play it the CORRECT way. :D

Well, I see you have victoria and crusader kings under your name, but here in EU land we use primarily political. Terrain mode is for reminding us we might not want to fight under certain conditions unprepared, but mostly we need to know who has what.

Your making me an outsider????????? Nah. Im just messing. I just prefer terrain.

The only current Paradox game whose terrain mode I actually like is HoI3, because it's colour-coded just like all the other mapmodes.

There's a Terrain Map Mode?
Oh wait, is that that map mode the game starts in that I change to political as literally the first thing I do in every game I play?
Huh.

I agree it looks bad, Victoria 2 and EU3: DW looked much better — even CK II was ok. This is not cool, although I guess it can be modded (especially the regions, which are horrible, but easily fixable by modders.)

I don't like the political map mode for EuIV. Especially the very unreal, plastic mountains look such awkward, ugly and unnatural. I prefer the political map mode of EuIII Divine Wind. This is a disimprovement. :glare:

Don't like the look of it, honestly.

Would have much preferred a hand-drawn, stylized map. Something crazy beautiful, and artistic which would still allow for the graphical effects they had in mind (coasts freezing over, weather effects, trade effects, etc).

Don't quite understand why the map has to be in 3d to begin with, I mean, we're not playing EUIV for the graphics.

Something like an updated version of MEIOU's map would have been fantastic, to be honest.

Well I have noticed that there's something about it that, outside of terrain mode, make it look sort of....smushy? The borders are clear for me, but I think a combination of color and bumpyness make it seem dull and blurred inside those borders.
