The New Manifest Destiny - A Alternate History USA AAR

Hi everybody! I'm starting up a second AAR so I can gain experience and also try telling a story along with it like most AARs do. Don't worry I'll still update my current AAR.

I've seen alot of alternate USA AARs recently, so I've decided to make my own one, though I've made a few differences to keep it new, like being very interventalist, even more than those out there. I've also drawn some inspiration from some sci-fi AARs out there, namely "Nazi Moon Base". Without further delay I'll start the AAR! It will be told from the viewpoint of a traveler from our dimension visiting this alternate dimension.

Backstory of the Traveler: The mysterious traveler, codenamed Agent 0105, telling this AAR works for the USIDST (United States Inter-Dimensional Survey Team) from our Earths 25th century. USIDST's mission is to travel to alternate dimentions and/or times and learn about the timeline there to help leaders make better political choices in their timeline. Agent 0105's mission is to travel to alternate Earths and see how the modern age began.

Agent 0105 Study Log

Location: Low Earth Orbit/Dimention 23E
Date (local time): January 1, 1936

I arrived two days ago and have just finished setting up my survey equipment. So far, scans have shown this timeline to very different from the one I've grown to know and love. Using my govermental scan software I have compiled this representation of the US government


Apparently, in the aftermath of the stock market crash of 1929, a movement of ultra-radical nationalism swept the US, leading to the eventual rise of National Socialism. I have been picking up radio trasmissions of propaganda called "The New Manifest Destiny" Here is an expert from a recent transmission:

Announcer: Attention all citizens! Our fearless leader wishes to remind us all of our destiny! That we are destin to rule all of the Western Hemisphere! In light of our recent millitary preparations, parades will be held in all major cities. As usual, all citizens not performing duties essenital to National defence or production are required to attend. Visit your local information booth for more information.

*Fades out with children singing a patriotic song*

To me, it sounds like they are brainwashed or something similar. I'm glad I'm not in this timeline. Anywho, as a closure to this log, I'll be sending some plans I managed to scan up. It was marked "New Manifest Destiny - Phase A

Location: Low Earth Orbit - Geostationary over Washington D.C/Dimention 23E
Date (local time): February 1, 1936

I have moved my orbiter over the American capital, as I see it is the key difference in the timelines. Their millitary is expanding rapidly. Currently they only have the same four divisions as when I arrived, but they have nine more in the works. Their peacetime productivity seems to be double of what was in our time line! I shall monitor it closely, that plan I found last month called for atleast 20, I wonder how many extra they will have laying around...

Date (local time): December 8, 1936

Sorry for not responding in a while command, even though its only been a week of your time, I set the timeshield speed to a bit faster as things are slow and I'd certainly go mad being board up here if I seriously watched in real time.

Today was the first signifigant event. The USA joined the Axis. Despite many in the Citizens Assembly being uneasy about being so bold in the international stage, Leader Kuhn went ahead with it stating "America has a duty to protect our ideals wherever they may be". These remote sensors realy do the trick. On the plus side for me, the limited scanning opprotunities presented because of being so close to a signle nation are negated just a bit, as I can now tap into All Axis knowledge instead of just America's. As a final note, I've noticed that the Americans now have almost enough divisions to go threw with that plan I found in January. It was dated for April of next year though... well maybe they will get trigger happy and let me have something entertaining to watch.

Agent 0105 Study Log/4

Location: Low Earth Orbit - Geostationary over Washington D.C/Dimention 23E
Date (local time): January 15, 1937

No rest for the wicked it seems. Almost immediatly after joing the Axis, many blueprints were exchanged. Over 20 it seems. I'm working on infiltrating the American research HQ to get some summaries up soon. Also, large amonts of oil were given to Germany. 15000 on the spot and a trade agreement with a factor of 5.

I have also taken a better picture of Germany as requested. You can tell from the scan, but they are doing some odd rebasing with their air force.

A little after my last report, America terminated the alliance with Germany. I have a transcript of a radio brodcast by Leader Kuhn that tells it better than I can.

Announcer: Attention all citizens! Please pay attention for an announcement by our fearless leader!

Kuhn: Today, our alliance with Germany was canceled. However, be assured, there is no need for alarm. We are still two nations, marching side by side! We simply do not wish to draw Germany into conflicts that may come about due to our New Manifest Destiny. Germany understands, and we are actualy increasing in trade! That being said lets move on to other things...

As you can see there was more but it was just propaganda. I think Kuhn was telling the truth, as it is very possible these wars America plans to get into will affect Germany's political standing (*2)

On another note, the Spanish Civil War ended with a resounding Republican victory. Many memebers of the Citizen Assembly were outragous, but they understood that all of America's troops were being prepared for some operation already. Anywho, here is some picture recaps of the Spanish Civil War

In the finaly weeks, the Nationalists were pushed back to the two provinces around Gibralter. I was surprised at how fast it went, even after seeing all the things I have seen hopping from dimention to dimention. The Nationalists had tons of support from Germany, Italy, and the US, while the Republicans only had the USSR! Somehow I bet it was poor leadership.

2) Sorry Yoy, it wasn't for long. After I had joined I realized taking over the rest of the Americas would draw Germany in, probably stopping alot of the events that make them stronger. I do plan on re-allying later though.

Well, the date on the plans has come and gone, yet still no war. My bugs in the White house may expain some of it. Here is a talk picked up between Leader Kuhn and Cheif of Staff Sage:

Kuhn: I am disapointed that we are not ready to start our Central American Campaign.

Sage: Yes, but the 1st armored corps needs time to get all of its three divisions. Look on the bright side, the calvalry corps is now ready with all three divisions, we can now divert production to our mountain corps for when we pass Panama.

Kuhn: They will be very helpful there, but remeber we must take the first step before we can take the last. Mexico must be conqured quickly. We must be ready to take Canada when things start rolling in Europe.

Sage: Don't worry, Mexico will be taken care of soon, but do we realy want to get involved in Europe?

Kuhn: Canada is rightfully ours! We will take it eventualy and THAT will get Europe involved. Also it will make a good showing to support Germany.

Sage: I suppose your right. Well its time to call it a night, I'll have reports for you from all three armed services at noon tomorrow.

From listening, I can tell Kuhn is a very charismatic leader. I bet that Sage is falling out of favor, questioning him like that. I wouldn't be surprised if an "accident" happened to him. Either way I believe from this and previous evidence that America won't stop untill they have all of the Americas, just like the New Manifest Destiny states.

Agent 0105 Study Log/7

Location: Low Earth Orbit - Geostationary over Washington D.C/Dimention 23E
Date (local time): June 3, 1937

Well, the American New Manifest Destiny has started. In May, all non-agression pacts were cancled and industry geared up to provide support for troops.

My scanners picked up US troops movements at dawn of the 1st. It appears they are going to attempt a pocket in Baja California.


Within hours all of Latin America had canceled trade agreements. For some odd reason, Afganistan canceled the three they had too.

Even though the American people seem rallied behind this war, uping production by 2, I think this war will create massive ammounts of dissent. It appears Leader Kuhn thinks so too, as I have picked up a conversation with someone names "Wood". It appears Mr. Wood will be replacing Mr. Sage as Chief of Staff soon to ease dissent. Does Kuhn not realize this will lead to more dissent. It appears he can gain the support of the people well, but not lead effectivly.

My further reports will contain the progress of America in Central America.

Date (local time): August 1, 1937

Well, America's war with Mexico is winding down. They could go faster, but I belive they are waiting untill national dissent goes down to declair more wars, as I have picked up several people grumbling about the war and another talk between Sage and Kuhn, this time threatining to remove him if he doesn't get something done about all the uproar. I am beginning to see how a coup could happen later. Anywho here are some pictures I'm sending you of American progress. Didn't want to bore you too much so I took the scans at datemarks from the DOW.


A week from the DOW. Notice that Japan has set things in motion.


Farthest American advance, at the two week mark. The land seems to slow them down, but they have tanks and cavalry in the East.


The advance after a month. Here is where I realize they are biding their time for opinion to return to reasonable levels. Not supporting China has made a few in the Citizens Assembly wary, apparently as I have picked up them disagreeing with the war a bit more than ususal. As expected, Kuhn doesn't appear happy, and has made less radio brodcasts than he had been.

Thats all I have for you this time, command. I expect more of this dull war next status report. Despite being so different from our own timeline, this is quite borring for me. Tell all back at HQ that I said hi.

Don't use Cavalry!!! You have 260+ gain of Oil, and you have enough industry to make many tanks. Don't waste your supplies on feeding horses!

Well I had 1 cav div at the start, and I always go in groups of 3 so... Besides I am making a ton of tanks anywho. I'm researching to motorized and mechinized also.
