I am trying to get this achievement, but I am failing every time. I am normally going south, taking out the next few states and forming the Bolivar Alliance. In 1941, with around 48 40w (14/4) I have two options, either to attack the US or to help the Axis in the USSR. If I attack the US I am able to beat them in 1944, but at that time the germans have overrun the USSR already. If I neglet the US, I can help the Germans, but before the USSR collapses, UK and US are landing in France and Germany and the are conquering Berlin. Is there any option to get the achievment without having luck or turning of the historical AI?

For this achievement you really need to take out the US quickly.
Pretty much rush south to fight them asap with the focus that seizes panama canal.
The only focuses that you should do that aren't leading to that are the ones that will stop any civil wars happening.
Once you have the US puppet them in alaska to keep their fleet on integration and at that point any competent player has already won as you'll have the manpower and industry of any other major

The gist, last version I've not tried since la resistance, was to break their line with a few elite troups and then have a bunch of fast cheap troops make the line massive and snakey so the ai can't handle it.

The "New Home of the Revolution" achievement is more difficult with the latest patch than it was before the La Resistance DLC dropped.
Back in 1.7 - 1.8, AI USSR almost always lost to AI Germany, so you all you had to do as Trotskyist Mexico was help open a 2nd front in Vladivostok, and that would give you enough warscore to puppet part of the USSR. When I did it, I declared war on the USSR with one of the Mexico focuses. Germany kept spamming me with invites to the Axis, but I stayed independent so I didn't have to worry about getting attacked by the USA. I never attacked any other nations in Latin America.
I had a harder time with the Infrastructure on Russia's Pacific Coast than I did with their troops. I only used 20w cav units, which was tough enough to keep supplied. I think using 40w divisions in Siberia would be asking for trouble.
