Hello everyone. Since day #1 when EUI was released that began this entire EU saga there has been many questions on the leaders in the game. There are some nations with too many, some not enough, some missing and the ever infamous some not at all! And although there has been a sincere effort in the past especially with the EEP its still one area of the game which hasn't yet had a project specifically devoted to it- save ofcourse for the AoN of which I was heavily involved in at the time.
What I propose is a "new and modified leader project" that would involve an in depth review of those leaders current, ones that could be introduced and creating files for those nations with a 0 leadership pool. For those nations with 0 leaders a few suggestions to remedy this "problem" could be to make some of its monarchs into leaders, create fictional ones and finally research as much as possible and see if we can come up with a few that were "over looked". My goal is for every nation in the game to have at least 10 leaders or more. I know this will be a huge undertaking but its one that I'm more than willing to work on and can really use the help of a few good volunteers.
EUII is after all NOT a game based on true historical fact but rather an abstraction of the truth which in my opinion makes it unique. So for example should fictional leaders be generated for those nations that have none? Its a good question that can spark debate but I would say yes. Why not? There's nothing that says they couldn't have existed and rose to command. People will say that is isn't historical well neither is France conquering the world or Bavaria conquering China, etc. etc., the game is centered on "what if's" and this presents good justification for doing so.
And what of the leaders in game now? Should some be modified a little here and there? Definitely. There are also some who are not in the game who should be and here is also where this work comes into play. How many of you have asked a question like why isn't Peter "the Great" of Russia a leader? Or why isn't Andrew Jackson in the USA leader file? We can change all that. I mean yes you can do it personally and edit your own files, thats what I did but why not share the enjoyment with others and work as a group to come up with something for everyone. Besides, this is what this forum is all about.
Also do note that this project is in no way shape or form designed to eliminate any leaders-period. Its just to modify the values, spelling of names, add a few, etc. And for nations that really do not need to add any such as Sweden, France, England and Spain there is still plenty of work that can be done with those files. But if there is someone who was missed and you feel they need to be added, from no matter what country here is the place to do it. For all of you who may not know me I created the USA and CSA leader files for the AoN scenario and worked on some of the other nations as well. We can get this done as fast as possible as long as work together. Volunteers anyone?
p.s. (can someone please sticky this?)
