Hi folks,

an isuue I did not see covered in threads yet - the never ending war.

In one of my games in 1530 Savoy was DOWed by France (me) while at war with Spain. It had conquered French Comte before.

After several defeats the Savoy army finally did retreat to - French Comte. And there it stands for 75 years now, 950 men strong :). Savoy is in a never ending war with Spain, Cologne and Hessen while maintaining a never ending alliance with Portugal, Papal states etc. And would force France to DOW 2 strong alliances at the same time to have the chance to annex Savoy.

Any chance to get out of this -never ending- processes short of war?

Regards

Thorsten

Something similar happened to me once, or actually it has happened a lot of times, but once in a multiplayergame as France where my vassals Savoy, Brittany and Switzerland (whatever they are called again) was in a neverending war against Sweden, I think it was. And this happened during the reign of my good monarchs, of course, so all my chances for any painless diploannexing went straight to.., well, some other place than they ought to.

I have no advice to give, but I felt the rage and despair come over me again when I read your post, so I to wanted to share my experience and let you know that you are not alone and remind you that it is just a game, etc,. etc, (Grrr!)! :)

You could try to get into the Spanish alliance. Then when you declare war you'd be able to march in Franche Comte and beat those 900 soldiers. Don't know if there is another way

If you know EXACTLY which provinces are taken, you can try to edit the savegame. Find the entry "war" and delete it, or change that other nations are warring (e.g. change that you AND Spain are attacking Savoy). This makes a lot of fun.

DoW the alliances blitz into the province, take it, get the hell out of there and prey they accept white peace :D Or..just fight them off and invade the alliance
