This makes perfect sense from a gameplay stance, although I imagine some players will complain when the maintenance costs of their ships goes up when they discover the boiler. :rofl:
On the topic of maintainence sliders-these need an overhaul. I hated that it was 'all or nothing' on the level at which your ships were maintained in Vicky1-a big problem for large navy states.
Fleets should be able to be put 'in reserve'/have a reserve option, so you can keep your main fleet at full operational readiness and build up the reserves as needed.

And considering that HoI3 now has the ability to "upgrade" units from one type to another, it could be interesting to have the ability to modernize ships somewhat and turn old sail ships into hybrid steam-ships.
Yes, but fundamentally, it's not going to happen. ;-)
Of course as this is not HOI, I do imagine that indeed such a feature is probably not going to be implemented, but one can dream.![]()
