I am one of the madmen who like playing naval nations.
I play on very slow in war. Even then it is impossible to keep up with all the poorly presented naval information systems.

1) I want to know when I have a big battle.

The naval battle alarm system is bad.
Big battles alarms drown under the sea of small naval engagements and convoy battles.
More often then not I missed a big battle because of the hundreds of small naval engagments. I sunk the entire Italian fleet last week? Maybe someone should have told me??
I also don't get that in the aftermath of battles the naval battle on map symbol is overrun with convoy battles actually.
Also you can't take a look at naval battles if there were several smaller battles after a big battle.

2) Convoy battles should be presented in a clearer way.

Being spammed with the convoy battles symbols all over the map makes it annoying to follow the events unfolding.
There has to be a better way to present them on map.

3) Amphibious invasions have to make you fall out of your chair because of a proper alarm.

I use a mod that makes a very loud sound when naval invaded. But actually there should be a popup. Being naval invaded is one of the biggest military undertakings of the enemy and should be treated as such.

4) The naval Battle Screen is boring.

Maybe there can be a more interesting/exciting way to present naval battles?

Thank you for your attention.

Right you are. I think naval regions could generally use slightly similiar approach like land battles are. Instead single massive battle we have whole region contested. Ofc more fleets and ships you have then more likely you will win that region and cause damage to an enemy. This would also give more reasons to have more balanced task forces. One huge fleet would be slow, can't be everywhere, lacks ability to search whole region and easy to find but offers needed firepower.

Regions would have combat width style thing depending on size and type of that sea region. This way you would need different fleets. Smaller ones for shallow narrow seas, large ones for oceans, fast sub hunters to escort, medium sized to secure regions and that one mopper fleet waiting in the naval base to be called anywhere it is needed. You also could try sneak landing operations without controlling sea if there isn't enough fleets to find to it. It would be possible have hunt for bismarck scenario if you make fast enough battleship+cruiser small surface raiding force while avoiding to engage combat fleets.

Why would it be clearer? Well now it could be made you could track sea region and fleets directly there with green/red bubbles visible if so or something but no more just single pop up that you lost instantly your ships when they entered the region.

For some reason, we are probably supposed to keep subs in a separate naval theatre with Fleet Alert Priority unchanged, but then again it helps little when it's a surface fleet you convoy raid with, and want to have your attention drawn to it only when your ships face a real oppositon.

It's good that you've made this thread, though. 'Politically Connected' admirals ceased to exist only after a similar mournful thread of mine, so being vocal helps.

Thx.

The main reason I keep them together is I don't want to distribute the reserve ships to different theaters all the time.
Also i thought theater means geographically. Actually it makes more sense to make a raider theater. Surface fleet theater, subs theater etc.... then.

And yes, as UK where oil doesn't matter, I routinely have my surface fleet in engagments.

Buti didn't know about the alert priority,.will check it out. I think my points stand corrected though in principal.

I think you can just disable that notification; it's separate from actual battles, IIRC. On the other hand, you'll have no way of knowing at a glance if it's still worth to keep subs in the area.

With how reserves are implemented you're usually better off not having any: whatever surplus you happen to have is better off generating naval XP.

I understand that, in theory, reserves and fleet templates are supposed to alleviate micro. But when ships sent to repair aren't being replaced from reserves to keep your TF in a fighting shape; when stream of 1-ship reinforcements (to replace combat losses) can arrive in the middle of the battle, resulting in ships constantly reinforcing each other, thus making it virtually impossible for taskforce to disengage from a losing battle; combined with no way for reserve ships to generate XP while still being assigned to reserve - whole template/reserve thing feels like a huge waste of a good idea.

I've said this before and I'll say it again: I don't understand why Pdox did not carry over the option to configure your popup alerts like you could do back in HoI2. You want naval engagements with capital ships to be a pop up? You could do it. You want it to PAUSE YOUR GAME? You could do it.
I imagine it's a relatively simple implementation with huge QOL gains.
