No matter how much support I give Nationalist Spain in the Civil War as Germany, they NEVER win! Every......single.......game! Approaching a ten count now at least!

I have even considered "cheating" just to give the Nationalists a chance but wait, I think the game designers have made a change: Load as the Republicans......can't disband any of the divisions, the button is greyed out! Load as the Nationalists....same thing, can't disband any divisions!

Start a civil war as Germany.....load as the opposing side, oh wait......can't disband any of the divisions!! Fighting a normal war, you can disband divisions fine! Devis if this is your doing with being unable to disband opposing sides divisions in civil wars I'm extremely disappointed

Getting a bit bored of seeing the Republicans winning in Spain ALL the frigging time!!

Are you sending volunteer divisions to help them out? In the last week I've started up Germany three times to try out the new mechanics and see how I go building up prior to the war starting. Each time I've sent 2 divisions to Spain when the war started and in early 1937 sent a third when I hit 41 divisions in the field. I've sent no other aid, no equipment and no planes. All three times the Nationalists have won. I use the Civil war to earn lots of land XP by fighting battles so I don't go for a quick win, even so one of them was over in 1936. The most recent was dragging on quite well until I realised it was spring 1938 and I wanted to get my 3 panzer divisions back home so they were in place for WW2's start. I had to change my tactics and started cutting off Republicans and destroying them. Even so it still took another 5 or 6 months to finish it off from that point as the Republicans had the upper hand over the Nationalist troops at the time.

I've played about a dozen games in the last week, and when I don't get involved (and when I'm not a country that usually gets inolved, like Germany), it seems to me like a coin flip. Which is to say that the republicans win a bit too often. I think the sweet spot would be like 20%; not unheard of, but uncommon enough for me to be like, "Hmm!"

Right now there's a bug with civil wars where the "attacker" (which is always Nationalist Spain, unless Spain is a human player and chooses to be the nationalists) starts with 0 manpower and has to wait for it to fill up as if they'd just changed their conscription law. It's hard to say exactly how much this is hurting them, but Paradox is aware of it, and it'll be fixed soon.

I've played two campaigns on 1.5.1 long enough to see an ending to SCW, and both times the Nationalists won. I was playing minors and did not get involved either time.

At least they're not joining the Axis every time like in 1.42...

I've restarted beginning of the game as Germany probably 6 times, and Republicans won once. In that one instance, I failed to provide lend lease or any volunteers.

In the most recent, I sent 5% of my best military products and waited before I sent volunteers, probably a month or 1.5. When I was ready to send the volunteers, the war was already 2/3 over.

With games like this, it is perhaps risky to assume that the pattern one observes (even if it occurs more often than random chance would suggest) is equally prevalent for all users. My install is completely vanilla, latest patch without Tiger and all "default" Regular difficulty settings except I give China +1 notch of buffing because they get steamrollered by Japan 90% of the time in my games.

Lord knows why these stochastic things tend to work out one way on one person's install and the opposite way on another person's install. Assuming he code we are running on our respective hardware is the same, and so the results should be almost identical--hypothetically.

In reality, it doesn't seem to work that way. I've heard people claim that they and their girlfriend got new machines: exact same models, exact same OS, exact same hardware, and set them up together to be able to play multiplayer games together. Only to find that some particular bug with a specific game troubles only one of them. Such claims are anecdotal,or perhaps even apocryphal. But my superficial understanding of how the machine code does its dance on the hardware and what role slight "irregularities" in the hardware might play make me unable to dismiss such tales.

Or it could be you have a mod running or a different version than me: If it is really annoying, try uninstalling any mods that might be causing it, and make sure you have latest version. Might even use Steam's "validate game cache" thing to make sure you don't have any files that are not default.
