Awesome check out these new focus trees!

Wow there all so big and interesting!

WOAH that focus gives you decisions that you can spend pp on!?

wow that 70 day focus gives you more decisions?

another 70 day focus that gives you more decisions?

jesus another 70 day focus that gives me more decisions that require more pp?

gosh it really seems odd how its 1940 and i still havnt even gotten through one of my trees, oh well im sure that plus 2 civs and 1 building slot 70 day focus will sure be worth it here in about a year once i get to the industrial side of my tree!

awesome! its 1943 and ive finally started down my industry tree, oh wait the game is already over.

=(

i dont know about yall, but this as generally been my experience so far, without attempting to game or break the system.
the most fun i have had was when i figured out as greece you can theoretically create the democratic byzantine empire ,and also glitch the game allowing you to do the crush the fascists decision twice stacking the buff. this can be done by going democratic becoming friends with the fascist group( i think its the EEE but i dont remember) flipping fascist when you recieve the event from the facist group to get the focus for byzantine emperor, then you just hold a referendum and your democratic byzantine empire with all their decisions.

i like the new focus trees, and i really like the new political mechanics that are being brought in(especially the trading of factories and pp for equipment), i just would like to actually be able to make use of any of it before the game is practically over.

The Turkey focus tree would be a masterpiece if most of the focus times were reduced. At least halved. There are several very good mods on Workshop that have focus trees where most of the focuses have 35 day times, and I find they're pretty well balanced and keep the pacing of the game fluid. Personally, it's hard to go back to the base game where I have to endure 70 day focuses for almost everything. I can understand when it's for a major action (e.g. getting a wargoal), but when it's for minor things like getting an extra factory or building slot, or improving relations, it should definitely be reduced.

If a focus tree is relatively small I don't mind having it be made of mostly 70 day focuses, but when it's huge like Turkey's is, there definitely needs to be some adjustments.

You remember that bad Soviet Focus Tree?
You remember that horrible "kill all your good generals and advisors" 210 days focus?

This might sound crazy, but that focus had the right idea, even though horrible implementation.

I don't really like picking 6 70 days foci for industry. Over a year to get my industry going. And I can randomly abandon it and focus on...the navy? Discover bikes? What?

Maybe merging them together, reducing the overall time, and giving the boni over time (either MTTH or at specific times) with a decent finisher would make them more interesting. So going for economy or any other specific direction would be a long-term commitment. I am going to be stuck for 150 or 180 days on a single focus, unlocking factories, research boni or decisions along the way. Foci become real foci of the entire nation, working to a single goal, while decisions become that - decisions taken in reaction to what happens around me.

Obviously, something like "Danzig or War" should still be a short focus or become a decision after a specific focus, while something like The Fate of Czechoslokia could be a single massive focus - with events along the way to give out land and carving up Cze and maybe even Romania. It would be fitting to be a longer focus because you are committed to restructure the Balkans.

Random rambling over, thanks for reading.

The Bulgarian fatherland front event as fascist was particularly brutal on PP. It needed around 600PP, and I had to stop doing an actual focus to get enough PP to take decision to finally end it.

A playthrough of Communist Bulgaria, forming the fatherland front inspired my original post.

sitting here for several hours just hitting a button to dump pp into a decision. wow what fun.

I can't disagree. In my 2 communist Bulgaria runs, the pattern seemed to be: Spend first 4-5 years doing nothing but managing factions at max speed, then get run over by fascist troops before I could do anything. Fascist Bulgaria was better in that I could get in an early war against Greece and Romania, but it's 1942 and I'm just about ready to join WW2.... except that it's almost over.

Too many national foci, not enough decisions.

Hitler: I want to invade Poland NOW.
Paradox: No, absolute dictator or not, you either have to go through half a dozen of National foci, or build a casus belli over the next half year and then officially declare war. Those are the rules ...
Hitler: Heinrich, you know what to do with those paradox guys ...
