I'm sad for not taking a screenie, but I once had a female anti-pope, who was the actual Pope's daughter which I invited to my court, with a plan to marry her to one of my son. Once in my court, for some reason she became an anti-pope, she appeared in the religion tab and all tab, though she didn't have an actual bishopric title if I remember correctly.

And I found someone like me, though in the demo.
You totally should have made her the official pope.

I like a couple of these ideas but some go a bit too far.

Secret female popes like in Medieval II Total War could be amusing though.

I agree there should be more for females to do. Female rulers should be able to go out on the battle field, become stewarts, etc. No reason to have all these useless daughters.

As long as it turns in a profit, you really shouldn't mind even if they make a MLP:FiM DLC. Plenty of people, myself included, seem to have bought this, and you can expect any profits from somehow positively affecting CK2 and other projects down the line.

Complaining and sarcasm really are little more than childish and destructive.

He's right though, defending SI by saying no time or money was spent on it is dishonest at best.

I'm sad for not taking a screenie, but I once had a female anti-pope, who was the actual Pope's daughter which I invited to my court, with a plan to marry her to one of my son. And I found someone like me, though in the demo.

It's interesting that they included female papal names at all when they seem to have never intended for a female to become a pope.

*cough cough*

Women were second class people in middle ages. With exception of some pagan societies women were virtually never allowed to hold important positions except in very rare emergencies and when a house was running out of living members.

I'm all in for women's rights but CK2 is not a place for them.

Actually, it's the perfect place. Not for full rights, right from the start, across the world, no - but if things could be developed later on. I odn't know if the female-councilours/generals/popes can be a flag that trips later on, but CK2 does cover a period where women start to exercise political power. I see no reason it couldn't be modeled in game.

We all agree that female characters have little to do in this game which is probably appropriate for the game. But, for those of us interested, there could be a DLC created to empower women in this era. Ideas, some of which have already been mentioned, but combining here:

- Female Popes
- Enatic succession (female preference succession)
- Women leading armies
- Female councillors
- More events surrounding Queens/spouses

It can be released on Mother's Day. Think about it.

A very simple, no thanks

I wouldn't mind if a woman had high martial skill that she could disguise as a man, go into battle, fight in a tournament... etc with a small chance of getting discovered. It could happen.... its no difference then say Augsburg doing a WC lol.

I could see female preference in succession possible...
leading armies possible, councilor perhaps....

Female pope isn't possible today so no

More events surrounding Queens and females... sure

Sounds more like patch material to me, not sure its more then a $1 DLC to be honest.

I'd just like to point out that Muslims were modable before SoI and Byzantines were playable before LoR... the idea of a DLC that makes playing as a female more interesting isnt a bad idea. Its not a great one, but not bad. And while its true women didnt have many(if any) rights back then... well Rome was never refounded... Im fairly certain the fatamids never called a jihad for Greece. The Normans won in England. The HRE wasn't some unified super-power. So many things in CK2(some even from the begining) are different than History, so why complain about how women didnt have rights...

Besides, Henry the 1st named his daughter Matilda heir presumptive when his son died and the nobility agreed. Her cousin Stephen of Blois didn't like it and seized the throne, which led to civil war. The civil war wouldn't have happened if Matilda didn't have the right to the throne. Who would have backed her if no-one felt she should be Monarch. While she was never crowned, she was the de facto ruler of England until she signed a treaty that made her son Stephen's heir. Henry the 1st died in 1135. Stephen was a grandson of William the 1st just as Matilda was his granddaughter.

Anyways, if it does become a dlc, you dont have to buy it....

I know :)
Isn't it wonderful?

[I wonder if the Swedes will ban me now...]

I wouldn't call the BUF wonderful, given they were more akin to a comedy sketch than anything serious.

Anyway as everyone has pointed out the idea is somewhat silly.

Your examples are not good comparisons. William the Bastard was damn close to losing to Harold at Hastings and Rome's restoration is a plausible event and a real ambition of some at the time. And Fatimid and HRE blobbing are whined about by at least half the forum. If Paradox adds a DLC aimed atmaking Fatimids more powerful you would get SSI flamewars again in the forum. (Hmm, a good April fools here.)

And IMHO the suggestions in the original post does not make playing female characters more interesting. It makes them less interesting by making them play more like male characters. I want playing various things in CKII to be more diversified, not less so, and for this limitations of what characters can do is important. So even if you do not care about history I cannot see what this DLC would add. Instead focus on creating more events for female rulers, and also create interesting content for female characters in pagan some of the pagan cultures in the pagan DLC. I like the Norse mod which has völvas instead of court chaplins, so Norse can only have female court chaplins.

Apart from having my character's wife leading armies, to stop her wandering around serving any liege in the early game (and possibly getting imprisonsed or killed), I usually mod this in anyway. It's pretty easy to remove the female = no triggers from most of it. Definitely more events and intrigue for the court would be welcome, to spice up the game as this could apply to all players everywhere, no matter who they were leading.
