*French annexation of Scotland on numerous occasions

This just happened in my GC as Brandenburg, & I'll tellya it weirded me out. AI England was down to just Anglia & 1/2 of Ireland (like almost always alas) with Scotland conquering province after English province. Next thing I know, there is no Scotland, & France owns virtually of the British Isles! Since they were allies, it wasn't by conquest. Since they were different religions (Catholic France & Reformed Scotland) it wasn't by diploannexation. And since I am playing with only Historical Events, it wasn't a Random Event. So how did it happen?

Obviously I missed something - perhaps Scottish conversion back to Catholicism, or a blitzkrieg war by France during a temporary CB from Scotland dishonoring the alliance? Anyway, it happened fast, & now the British Isles are France du Nord. :)

Simple: Inheritance it's a random event that seems to occur quite frequently.

I just played a game where I inherited Austria and Venice within 10 years of each other. Aside from 10-15 revolts per year I wasn't exactly popular with the rest of Europe for some reason :)

More Strange events:
Persia conquering all of North Africa and Asia Minor
The future Soviet Republic of Lancashire: after Russia fought a war against Spain for England's ex provinces.

I was the Turks, and in my previous game (GC 1.08) I saw:

- Portugal destroyed. All they control is Tago, no colonies, no trading posts - they've all been burned, attacked, and annexed by England, Spain, Netherlands, Russia, Poland-Lithuania, and me. Why Spain kept jumping on their backs, I dunno, but everyone else was getting into it, so I did too :)

- REAL Italian Chicago. Genoa with a tidy little trading empire in the Great Lakes region. Genoa!

- Spanish Germany. The Netherlands formed, attacked and eventually annexed all the remaining Spanish provinces, then quickly allied with a fistful of those little German states. Then, just ten or so years later, Spain goes on a massive offensive, utterly destroys the Netherlands and their allies, taking out Wurtemberg, Baden, Lorriane, Kleves and Hannover. The Netherlands is reduced to the Hague, and the others are all annexed. Then, in the middle 1600's, Spain annexes Thurnigen and Saxony! Why don't *I* ever do that well as Spain? ;)

And the mind-blowing weirdest I've ever personally seen:

- Empire of Nubia. Nubia attacked the Mamelukes several times, taking all the land around Alexandria, then slowly moving up the coast. Mamelukes eventually are annexed, and then Nubia goes after Venice(!!!), taking Crete and Cyprus. Cyrenaica is annexed. The Hedjaz goes after some tasty Nubian land, and loses Jordan for their greed. All this with men equipped apparently with spears and loincloths. I'm playing as Austria and am glad that Turkey will have someone else to worry about in their rear :p

In my game as France, Iraq has annexed the Crimea. Sweden has half of the former Kazan territory, and Cartier was bewildered to see three allied Polish fleets sail pass him outside Dakar. I suppose that the Spainish got my rutters, which the Poles then got theirs.

(most of those are from IGC)
- The Knights had 6 colonies in North America
- Papal States had Ireland and a province in Crimea
- France had Serbia, Croatia, Bulgaria and Macedonia(well and a ton of other things but it was wierd to see that much of of the Balkans blue)
- Navarra had a vast empire comprising of Calais, Milan, Bearn, Euskadia, Roussilon, Gerona, HOLSTEIN!!!, Rumelia, and 4 North African territories...
- Poland had somehow gotten Hungary, Moldova, Wallachia and huge chunks of Russia not to mention Romagna, Mantua, Milan, CALAIS!!! and 3! provinces in England...
- I've seen the Poles send over 300k worth of troops at the Turks and end paying indemnities

Sheridan's Oddities

Well, I haven't seen Norway or the USA yet, but...

I once saw Baden (as an ally of France) conquer - and hold - Navarra for over 2/3rds of the GC. Portugal survived the same GC intact except for the Azores, which I took.

In another game, at one point, there was a juggernaut English - French - Spanish - Genoese alliance, France having annexed Lorraine and Savoy, England having conquered Scotland, and Spain having inherited Navarra. The alliance didn't hold for long, but it did manage to allow Spain to conquer Helvetia, Milan, Parma, and take Mantua from Venice. (I was France, but uninterested in Italy - and holding off the armies of the Palatinate, Saxony, and Hessen, which had absorbed most of Central Germany between the three of them and were all allied with Helvetia.) The only neutrals with land borders on our alliance (before the war) were Netherlands, Baden, and Portugal.

I've also seen some odd colonial action in various GCs, including the Knights of Curacao, Scotland actually getting Nova Scotia, Sweden conquering Iceland, Teutonic Connecticut, Courland in Antigua, Venetian Florida and Newfoundland (these two at the same time), Turkish Tierra del Fuego, and Austrian Quebec (though I'm still trying to deduce HOW). Only one of these - the Scottish - was player-caused.

As far as odd European conquests - I once saw Tripoli take and hold one of the southern provinces of Ireland for ~15 years, before the Papals came to rescue them. In the same war (an alliance), Algiers then took Calais from France. Calais ended up Dutch soon after, and then Algiers and Tripoli both got conquered by the Mameluks, with the two western provinces of Algiers falling to Morocco. At the same time, Sweden took Kola and Far Karelia from Russia, Ingermanland from Pskov (!) and systematically conquered Norway, Iceland, and Gotland away from Denmark. And I was playing Spain, and allied with the northern Italian states.

And a 30k Chinese army once arrived to help their allies - my French - conquer - Rhodes!

The weirdest thing I've seen looks like a bug but anyway: after rebels took over English colony in Biloxi I've seen rebels army stationing there. When I moved cursor over it I read information about the army which read: Rebel Scum, 552 men (Smith). Would you believe that: Rebel scums managed to convince English historical conquistador John Smith to take command of their army :D .

Other oddities: The Hugenots changing thier state relligion to .. catholic less than 30 years after declaring their independence from Spain (so much for proud declaration of their faith :D ) and Cyrenaica colonising Ovambo in Southwestern Africa.

Wierd, and a bug, but not harmful, I think.

I was playing turkey, and France owned Luca, but had 7 rebels there, but not
seiging the fortress. I clicked on Luca to have a look, and then right-clicked on
one of my territories. I hit expand fortress, and the pop-up asked if I wanted
to build a fortress in Luca! Since this was wierd, and I was doing well, I hit yes.
The territory of Luca then proceeded to enlarge the fortress -- with my money :).

I was unable to do this with territories without rebels in them. Just a strange
situation, but I don't think this would alter play much.

I´ve got some pretty weird things from my last game as France:
- Holland soundly beaten by a coalition of Saxony and Hannover (Zeeland and Friesen to Saxony).
- Vallachia has three provinces one is Istria and the other Jerusalem, they have had Jerusalem for 200 years (those brave Vallachian crusaders!!)
- Lots of inheritance events (but never happen to me, grrrr. Poland inherited Hungary (they´re huge now) and Bohemia Brandenburg).
- A Sunni muslim Ukraine.
- Colonial weirdness: Venice´s got a colony in the Caribbean, Japan one in Siberia.
- Now the biggest one: The aztecs are still independents (we´re in 1706) and allied with Spain. In the last big Turco-Spanish war, the persians (allied with Turkey) took Michoacán province from them!!!!!.

Sometimes, when clicking quickly in a menu, I asked to confirm my request on an item that why greyed out...

Like, "Are you sure you want to offer vassalization to France" when my relations with France were at -200 and France a major...

I canceled it because I didn't want the game to crash.

My weirdest thing must have been when the Ottomans annexed Denmark...
Or when Algeria took Friesen and then kept expanding in Europe ntil it had 4-5 provinces in the HRE...
