Can you point out to its general direction?
Press F6 or open the book just to the right of the minimap on the left. Current wars and alliances should be on the last couple of pages.

If my alliance is in defensive war and I leave it (assuming that I wasn't DOWed) does my war against the other alliance turn to offensive?

I like your idea, but for those who do want an enormous European empire, exploiting the cb sheild system is more useful. By declaring war on a one or two province minor with an alliance with a country or countries that has some of your cb sheilds, one can gain carve out one's rightful empire without breaking a sweat. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

Your scheme is a lot less 'BB efficient' than his. You will always be paying 2 BB points for non-core provinces he will only be paying one as his wars will always be defensive. Plus fewer DOWs mean fewer BBs.

And with my system, the vassals are free!

Jeez, I feel like I'm a late night informercial...

Seriously though, at V Hard, one can add (by say 1599) 64 non-pagan/non-CB provinces before starting the BB wars...Not bad, huh?

Just watch yourself because if you make a seperate peace with one member of the enemy alliance you are now considered in an offensive war with the rest.

Got a better exploit for yas - haven't checked its effect on BB points, but it does make it MUCH easier to take provinces from large countries in peace treaties.

It's also the only sure way for a France player to take all those English provinces *without* a navy.

Here's what you do... find a minor that is allied with the country you really want to fight. Best if they have around 2-3 provinces. (In the case of the Hundred Years' War, Navarre works well, as it often allies with England; if they end up allied with Aragon instead, France can exploit this to secure its southwestern CB provinces.) DoW them, but carry out the war as normal. When you're ready to make peace, capture ALL of their provinces, then negotiate with them as alliance leader.

You'll be able to use that 100% war score to force them to give up their ally's territories! As France, I've been able to force Navarre to give me all 5 English-held French territories, plus Orleans, this way, driving England off the continent without having to invade England itself.

This is a well known exploit! It will only work to gain you national provinces. BB depends if it was an Off. or Def. war same as usual. The provinces will cost you double in war score to take this way as well.
