Just watch yourself because if you make a seperate peace with one member of the enemy alliance you are now considered in an offensive war with the rest.

The worst, most evil and clearly most used exploit is the save. It makes so you cannot loose a war!!!
If you want yuo colonies will all have 100% sucsess rate and you wont loose a single battle.
Now stop with all these Exploit threads.

If my alliance is in defensive war and I leave it (assuming that I wasn't DOWed) does my war against the other alliance turn to offensive?

Got a better exploit for yas - haven't checked its effect on BB points, but it does make it MUCH easier to take provinces from large countries in peace treaties.
It's also the only sure way for a France player to take all those English provinces *without* a navy.
Here's what you do... find a minor that is allied with the country you really want to fight. Best if they have around 2-3 provinces. (In the case of the Hundred Years' War, Navarre works well, as it often allies with England; if they end up allied with Aragon instead, France can exploit this to secure its southwestern CB provinces.) DoW them, but carry out the war as normal. When you're ready to make peace, capture ALL of their provinces, then negotiate with them as alliance leader.
You'll be able to use that 100% war score to force them to give up their ally's territories! As France, I've been able to force Navarre to give me all 5 English-held French territories, plus Orleans, this way, driving England off the continent without having to invade England itself.
